It's ironic that for all the criticism of Liz, Matt and Gerry, the person imo with the least likely path to victory from here is George.
Tbf the fact that George is here at all is mind boggling.

If he can get through the next tribal his path to victory becomes pretty simple, and he knows it - win immunity.

I think that's really harsh.

For sure George deserves it the most and I reckon nearly everyone agrees, but Liz and Matt are both deserving winners too if they get up. They have been on the winning vote most of the time and are good at challenges.

They have done the right thing in not voting off George yet and either one of them is very likely to claim his scalp in the next two tribals.

Only on the winning vote due to following George's wishes, neither of them have planned anything, they have just sat back and coasted, along with Gerry.

I know George will not likely win, and even if they do claim his scalp ( won't be because of Gerry ), they are only at this point because of George game play.

somehow i feel like there's something to do with fire making for George to come. They and he made a big point of highlighting him saying how he couldn't make fire and he didn't need to, in that challenge with fire a little while back which Simon won. There's been other little moments throughout the season where its been mentioned also. My working theory is that George has been playing the long game trying to bluff everyone into thinking he doesn't know how to make fire. It's hard to believe a Survivor nuffie like George would have gone away after his first season and done all that physical training prior to this one yet not done any fire making training.

I think there is a reality where the next vote is a 2-2 split which includes George.

While I think George is genuinely no good at challenges (particularly the strength physical ones), there has been a few sus moments that makes me sometimes think he's trying to make it look as if he's worse than he really is.

I thought it looked like he was only pretending he couldn't change position fast enough for the challange where they had to stand on the pointy log.

I agree, but I'm unsure I'd bet the house on Matt if it's Matt & Gerry at the FTC.

Basically, could Gerry argue that Matt & himself have basically played the same game (without 3-4 immunity wins) and get the (for want of a better term) pity vote for being an old fella who survived?

Probably not, since Matt is likeable enough and Gerry doesn't seemed to have endeared himself to too many. But you never know.
Gerry definitely won't win it IMO, Matt will unfortunately, just want him to get to F2 for the laughs when the jury get hold of him, he got bent out of shape when Simon called him a pawn, he'll go into full spasms when 9 others tell him the same thing!

It is possible that the other contestants have done just as many confessionals, it is just that George provides more entertainment.

Never forget the producers are trying to sell entertainment. They know who has won so they work backwards to provide the most entertainment for ratings.

Don’t be sucked into what we see, we see very little of what is going on.

It's only ironic because too many posters here don't really understand how the game works.

He's a great player but has been a great shield for the likes of Liz and Matt. They know how useless he is at challenges and would back themselves to beat him 98% of the time.

Compare that to the GG who could still fall back on his challenge heroics if the numbers were against him. Everyone he played against knew that he was great at challenges so he was a threat right to the end. George is next no threat barring a miracle so riding his coat tails to the final 3 or 4 is good play.

George isn’t completely useless, he did last 4+ hours on the final challenge when Hayley won it all. Still gone though, not even these idiots will fall for the ‘Take me, the best players deserve final two and you can prove you are better than me’ argument, after Matt or Liz have won final immunity
