I think there is a bigger chance of a 20 year old beating a 25 year old than a 36 year old beating a 31 year old. Regardless, the fact they played in slightly different eras it makes it much harder to compare them using just raw numbers.
What about a 37yo beating a 21yo who has already won 4x Grand Slam and will likely win 10+? But oh no poor Fed lost to someone a few years younger than him!!!

Not sure why you are getting so upset about this. I am giving my opinion you don't have to agree.

And btw Federer won 3 grand slams when he was Novak's age now including winning the Aus Open whilst being seeded #17

He had a H2H lead over Novak until he was 35-36. If Federer had retired at 35 would you be telling me Federer is better because of H2H? Makes no sense.
Of course allowed to have your opinion. But I do struggle with people still arguing Federer over Djokovic. All the stats will show you are wrong.

But if you want to use head to head as a basis for your argument, I'll leave you with this. At the grand slam level, Djokovic leads Federer 11-6.

Who's upset? I am just giving my opinion too...

So Fed able to win 3 GS at 37yo but 29yo somehow not at his peak.

I wasn't comparing peak ages I was comparing peak tennis. Not every player plays their best tennis at the exact same time in their career.

Anyway all three of them are great - not seeing this conversation going anywhere productive. Enjoy your day all. Hoping Shelton gets up.

Fed was playing his peak tennis still. Its just he went from beating Safin, Hewitt, Roddick to having to play Novak and Nadal.

How? His previous match was Sunday. They all play a match every 2nd day throughout the tournament.

Novak & Zverev's next match is Friday.

Shelton, Sinner, DeMinaur, Sonego play today/tonight. Their previous matches were on Monday. The winners of today/tonight play Friday.
Depends on when they start.
Sinner and Djokovic (and Alcaraz) played first round on opening Monday, Zverev on the Sunday
So Djokovic has played his quarter final at an earlier day than the other two, ie one day less time to date
Conversely, De Minaur, Shelton, Sonego all started on the Tuesday, hence they’re getting their squeeze from now on as you’ve mentioned.

Yet Fed fans have the audacity to bag Novak for his draws in finals. At times they BOTH had cupccake finals, they also were both outstanding players. Novak/Nadal were just better. Fed also didn't beat Nadal in his playground at the French, Novak has.

I never used H2H as a basis for my argument. Someone else did and I just replied saying that the H2H only swung Novak's way when Federer was 35-36. When you play 50 times I don't think 27-23 is that significant of a difference.

But like I said I understand why people would think differently.

I’ve enjoyed the melts lol

Still two more potential melts left too

If Novak can go through No.3, 2 & (potentially) 1, to take the title & break the GS record at the age of 37 & 8 months - it will top the Olympics achievement for me.

Yeah honestly just enjoying him playing the winning side of it is to the side as this was a brute of a draw, Sinner having cupcakes on the other side as fresh as a daisy too, lets be real tonight shouldn't be close, and a semi final against Sheldon/Museti...it's a lot easier than Zverev. Even if he gets to the final just how cooked will he be, he could do it at 25 years old not sure 37 years, that's asking a lot!

That's not what I said lol. I said Federer's peak was better than Novak's peak. 2011 wasn't anything close to Federer's peak.

I'd say Fed's absolute peak was 2004 to early 2010 when he won 15 GS's...It also included a run of making 18 out 19 slam finals & 23 consecutive semi finals...Apart from the French, he was pretty much untouchable during that time.

Sonego vs Shelton will probably be the best mens match today.

Probably? i'd say definitely. Lets be real it's probably a straight sets win at night, this one should go 4-5, and I have zero idea who wins.

Why do people care so much about medical timeouts?

Who cares what they're going off for, they're hardly used.

Have you watched an NBA game lately? 48 min game time that goes for nearly 3 hours.
US Sports are near unwatchable as a result, not something you want to see other sports adopting.
