Honestly be surprised he takes more than a set. Think Novak's last chance is Wimbledon on a court he can protect his body on at this stage of his career.

I've love Novak but I've been consistent, physically at 37 years he's going to struggle to win against the top 2 in Carlos/Sinner, just will.

I hope I'm wrong I would love a Novak win in 4-5 sets but then he's so cooked for a Zverev semi after he trounces Paul. Both Zverev and Sinner have benefited from cupcake draws
You aren't in a great run of form, are you?

I was wondering where all the posters have gone that say Federer is better than Djokervic.
I am still here. Not sure why you think this Aus Open would change that. Federer won 3 grand slams across 2017 and 2018 at Novak's age now. And that was with Nadal and Djokovic still on tour.

Pretty sure he won 17' Aus Open seeded #17 after returning from injury. Pretty ridiculous effort.

What does Djokervic have to do from here to be regarded as better than Federer ?

The reason why I think Federer is better is because his peak is better tennis than Novak's peak. Federer can play anyone in their prime off the court and we saw it when he ended Novak's unbeaten run in 2011. Both did it for a long time but Federer had to compete against two of the other top 3 greatest of all time whilst they were 4-5 years younger than him. That is why I put him ahead and I don't see it changing unless Novak finds a new peak.

For me this current era of tennis is not very strong to say the least. Alcaraz and Sinner look like good prospects but for the last 5 or so years we have been bereft of high quality talent. The fact Novak won a grand slam final against Kyriogs speaks volumes. Djokovic has racked up the Grand Slams in that period and made the most of it which is great but it's why I don't use Grand Slam numbers as the reason one player is better than the other.

I also don't think the difference is that significant between the top 3. Personally would have Federer, Djokovic and Nadal in that order in terms of greatest tennis player. But I understand why people would order it differently.

Happy I was wrong didn’t think physically he’d do it. I don’t mind either player so if he lost to Carlos I’m fine with it. Happy he won and being there the atmosphere was phenomenal

Usually from Federer fans trying to cling on to anything as soon as Novak/Nadal did all slams twice there was no debate. Novak needed the Olympic Gold and did that last year.

They are all greats of the game though

Apologies for not being overly moved by Novak's recent Grand Slam wins against the likes of Kyrgios, Rudd, Tsitsipas, Medvedev and Berrettini.

Yet Federer beating the likes of Gonzalez and co is any better…if he was as good as the other two he’d have a winning record over them for starters let alone only winning the French once

So Feds the goat due to 2011 when Novak was 24yo, Fed 29yo and Djokovic beat him 4 times to 1 that year with the 1 being on Clay. Get a load of yourself.

Yeah I understand, but he’s had a day less than the others in terms of playing last night, rather than tonight.

Swings and balances.
How? His previous match was Sunday. They all play a match every 2nd day throughout the tournament.

Novak & Zverev's next match is Friday.

Shelton, Sinner, DeMinaur, Sonego play today/tonight. Their previous matches were on Monday. The winners of today/tonight play Friday.

He had a H2H lead over Novak until he was 35-36. If Federer had retired at 35 would you be telling me Federer is better because of H2H? Makes no sense.

And using the fact he only has one French Open as anything meaningful makes little sense. Just shows how dominant Nadal was at the tournament.

But its fair to count Novaks young 20s meetings?
I think there is a bigger chance of a 20 year old beating a 25 year old than a 36 year old beating a 31 year old. Regardless, the fact they played in slightly different eras it makes it much harder to compare them using just raw numbers.

Both the other two have won the set twice they are ahead and comfortably take your pick they are 1/2.

That's not what I said lol. I said Federer's peak was better than Novak's peak. 2011 wasn't anything close to Federer's peak.
