Yep he definitely said Brett. It looked like the players were looking for the punchline re the name.

The first one he did for Melbourne was probably the funniest.

I've never been one for Dave Hughes, but goodness me. His entire schtick is even more awful than I remember.

If anyone's got Netflix, do yourself a favour and watch Bill Burr's standup special. Makes Dave Hughes look sub-Nudge.

Dave Hughes drifts dangerously into Carl Barron territory where most of his jokes relate to how he's a bit odd looking.

I went and saw a local Adelaide comedian once at the fringe and he did about a 5 minute bit, and got muffled laughter, and then said "Oh I spose that would have been funnier if Dave Hughes did it?" before doing the exact same bit using Hughes's schtick.

It was funnier than Dave Hughes has ever been.

I rate stand up comedians just above paedophiles and real estate agents and used car salesman and they are all just above ventriloquists. Having said that the company I work for organised a night out at a comedy club in Melbourne and I was as scared as I have ever been since I was I don't know about 4 feet tall when I was two.

Anyway dave ****ing Hughes was the entertainment the ****ing nasally campaigner he is. The usual suspects were giggling away during a support act and the bombing comedian asked an older chap in the crowd "how old are you old mate?" To which he replied.....

"I'm 18 on the internet"

Everyone lost their shit.

Only time everyone laughed together all night.

The only time I laughed all night.

**** Dave Hughes.

Last night I watched episode 2 of "Stop Laughing … This is Serious" which has been showing on the ABC recently. They showed a young Dave Hughes on Hey Hey It's Saturday. He wasn't even funny then.

Thank god! I've hated his crap since I arrived here. Kept quiet because he seemed to be the 'Australian' humour and I didn't want to offend the new homeland.

The guy is a cringeworthyly poor comedian. I can barely understand him.

Ask finbarr about Australian comedy....

For what it's worth I share his view.

I remember one episode of The Glass House where they were interviewing an up-and-coming female singer (can't remember her name) - Hughes asked her a particularly juvenile question and with perfect timing and a slight pause she just answered "You're a bit creepy aren't you". Laugh out loud funny, but at Hughes's expense.

Don't get me started.

What, Dave Hughes, Tripod, the Scared Weird Little Guys, Wil Anderson, Peter Hellier, Hamish Blake, etc not entertaining? But they turn up EVERYWHERE.

I admit to liking Nazeem Hussain though. Apart from that, it has been downhill since DAAS disbanded (I refuse to acknowledge their current collaboration with Flacco).

One of Dave Hughes early routines was about life on the dole. It was very funny.

Unfortunately it seems as the years have passed by its become more about his weird voice than actual authentic comedy gold.

Having said that, I did find the Polec/Voss and Olly/Cornes grandfather bits humorous.

There is only one comedian worth watching and he is a Scot .. Billy Connolly .. if you wont a good laugh watch him on YouTube. My wife did not like him much as he uses the .......... word, but that's just Billy.

Yep remember seeing him at the Fringe, 10 maybe 15 years ago when he was just starting out with this routine, it was very funny. Has been down hill ever since though. I don't hate him the way others do.

I would sleep with Dave Hughes before I'd sit through a Will Anderson routine mind you.

I saw Dave Hughes at Offshore in 2000 while waiting for Primus to play that night. It was free. That's about all he's worth.

The ultimate was George Carlin, RIP.

Saw him a month or so ago in his last tour. He is the greatest stand up comedian of them all. Still has it in his 70's and with all he's going through was a great show he put on for 2 plus hours. No comparison to that that tripe Dave Hughes puts on. Good old Billy is a legend

Dave Hughes is the antithesis of Paul Hogan. Hogan worked his yobbo persona into his comedy, i.e. he was funny and then made it a bit funnier with his ocker type. Dave Hughes does it the other way, he expects the ocker to get laughs on its own so he throws in a few puerile jokes as well.

I would have to agree with that. It seems one of the main reasons people laugh at him is that everyone else does. It all smacks of "The Emperor's New Clothes".

Paul Hogan was funny when he was 'one of us' soon as he went Hollywood, nobody liked him anymore
