Long frustrating day in the field coming up for the Aussies I feel.

Tubs again blaming afl for a patch mid pitch, 'where they bounce the ball.' Mentioned it yesterday too. is it even the middle pitch? Gee AFL to blame for everything for these sydneysiders...

Starc is one of the few bowlers in the country that is capable of being genuinely threatening on pitches that offer nothing. At only 24, it's not surprising that the selectors keep persisting with him.

Whether it works out or not remains to be seen, but it's the same logic they used in persisting with Johnson all those years.
I think you've hit the nail on the head there. If we're going to keep rolling out pitches that offer very little to the bowler, we need someone who can extract any pace/bounce out of the wicket. Johnson, Pattinson and Cummins aren't fit so...
Hard to see Siddle being at all threatening on this pitch. Behrendorff was apparently bowling mid 140s in the big bash the other night, but the speed guns seem a little erratic in BB games. Not sure I've ever seen him bowl faster than 135 anywhere else.

Should be thanking the AFL that there's at least something in the pitch then.

I missed that, was it specifically about sydney?

It's an interesting theory considering afl is played at every ground there's been a test at this series...

Keep saying this but the wickets prepared this summer have been way too batsman friendly. Watching Johnson destroy England last year on juicier decks was a much better spectacle. the want to get more people to test cricket, they need to give the pacemen something.

Why didn't it effect the MCG pre dropin?
Or the Gabba and SCG over the last two decades?

I tried to find a picture on Google for the salmon length but unfortunately failed. I did find this though. Not too much has changed it would seem in the wide world of sports.

They should get 5 days here rather than 3 days last year but 5 days watching a dull batathon won't bring in the crowds.
