There once was many more Australia A games. They didn't get much coverage though.

Agree that's what the selectors have chosen and hence if that's the case then they get no excuses for their performances.

This I agree with, Hardie's best performances have come in long-form cricket, both he and Connolly should have played both A games, not a meaningless one-dayer, while Smith or Labs and co could have turned out for one extra game.

The excuse is that these players have been thrust into a position where they have no experience against international cricketers due to a lack of ODI games played and preferencing the "Best XI"

In ODI cricket, Shaheen Shah Afridi debuted at the age of 18. And Naseem Shah debuted at the age of 19. They are both only 24 and 21, respectively. Naseem played his first Test at the age of 16. They are now the front line of the Pakistani attack for the next 10-15 years (given their bodies hold up).

In comparison, I'll suggest Spencer Johnson, Lance Morris, Todd Murphy as the next generation of the bowling set up. Only Todd Murphy has little Test experience in conditions that favor him. And Johnson as only played 2 ODI's and 5 T20I's, whilst Morris has only played 3 ODI's; Johnson is likely to be 30 by the time he makes his Test debut; and Morris probably 28.

Then is a few years, you will have to find new bowlers because they will be at the age of retirement.

When the ODIWC comes around in 2027, Starc (37 at the time), Hazlewood (37), Stionis (38), Maxwell (39), Smith (38) will all be too old to play in that tournament. England kicked out James Anderson from the Test team due to age; and Rohit, Kohli and Jadeja all retired from T20 to give the other players a spot on the XI.

The point with the Pakistan thing is that they are young, and now you have world class bowlers at the 24 and 21. Whereas you've got 28yos with no experience. And Nathan Ellis (currently 30) deciding to focus on playing playing T20 leagues cause he realizes he won't get into the main Australian XI whilst.

Because you will be left in a situation where there will be a bowling attack aged 30 will little to no experience

There's some merit to this but it's not as if any of the test players are unfamiliar with Optus.

Well personally I don't give a toss about the ODI other than the world cup and 20/20 I care less about. Watch it for entertainment only.

Test cricket is what stands you out as a player and unless you make it there then you are not good enough.

Because compared to the last 30 years there’s **** all batting talent there. As an eagles fan I can spot a cliff that a team is about to fall off, and we’re a bad home ashes result and several retirements at once from going over one

Minor word smithing but it’s not talent related - the talent is the same as it has always been. The coaching and development system has definitely fallen off the cliff and did so years ago - we are about to reap what we’ve sown and get what we deserve
