4th straight year of a first-time finalist winning the ATP Finals.

Thiem would appear more deserving. He won 3 500s, IW and the Austrian Open this year, as well as losing the French Open final.

Still a little hot-and-cold week-to-week (e.g. only 1 slam match win this year outside the FO), but when he goes deep into a tournament he is worthy of his ranking.

Tsitsipas entered 2018 as World no.91 without a slam match win to his name, so winning the ATP Finals the following year would underline an exhilarating rise for him as well.

If I was a match fixer then Bernie would be my #1 player to try and turn. No more TA support, sponsors dropped off, lives the high life and with his results dropping off he doesn't have the money coming in. People don't even blink when he retires or loses to someone he shouldn't. Perfect storm.
Bernie wouldn't go for it I reckon, too scared of what Dad will do if he finds out

The last 3 winners are all slamless (without even a slam final).

In recent decades, Davydenko is the only other winner who'd never previously made a slam final (he deserved the 2005 FO final though).

I have said for a long time that I have a suspicion that Tomic could be caught up with some kind of match fixing. Yesterday he played the number 519 in the world.

First set - lost 14 points won set 6-1
Second set - lost 45 points, lost 5-7
Third set - lost six points, won 6-0

I'd be invetisgating that, the 5-7 scoreline is the old cover up.

He has withdrawn from his match against Popyrin. Getting out of Mexico while the going is good in my opinion.

An old post of mine that goes way back further than the current investigation. I doubt anyone is rocked by the news Bernie is involved with match fixing in some form. His tennis money ran out years ago. He is the perfect target as he doesn't even care if he wins or loses.
