I could see Dan Merrett making the move across when the W program is done.

Sure I saw him with the men's team coaching group during the season anyway.

Some caller reckons they asked Mattner to come and have a chat and he wasn't interested.

An entire football heartland state and that's it apparently. Chortle.

Maybe people inside the industry here know how shitty it is to work for Ken if you dont agree with him.

Possible.

I hate the hard to attract people to Adelaide line because you don't have to get blinded by it, this is heartland football country do some digging and find the right people here. It's absurd.

It's like saying you live in Mississippi and can't find a bluesman.

"We'll always invest in our footy program"

What happen?
*unless we actually have to pay up to bring in quality, so it'll be invested in 'just enough' to be competitive.

SA teams are gonna have to go 2-3xs over the cap if they want to be able to rip quality and their families out of their native Victoria.

Weak as piss from our bean counters.

They spoke to a lot of candidates - no idea how far the talks got though with any of them outside of Dew and Campo.

The move to go with no additional assistants in 2025 only makes sense through the prism of wanting to ensure you have maximum flexibility in 2026 to mould the coaching staff to the needs of the new senior coach. If that is not the intent, then this move (or should I say, inaction) reeks of incompetence.

That being said, keeping Ken for 2025 under these conditions also is nothing short of incompetence from the leaders of the footy program.

It portrays the picture of a write off year tbh they don't even want a stop gap bolster role in case we go well.

If you can't find a reasonable inclusion even if just for a year in a football state you really are not trying.

What a waste of a season ‘25 is going to be.

If my thinking is correct in wanting a clean slate for 2026, they theoretically could only offer 1 year contracts, and no reasonable coach would accept such a scenario.

It's not gonna be a clean slate though you think Josh is gonna push out the entire coaching staff contracted or otherwise?

Wouldn't surprise me if a few are moved on. There was going to be a fair amount of coaches changing roles (some into developmental roles rather than line coaches) had Carr become coach this season.

From the outside looking in, Richardson is the most insipid CEO in the history of our club, at least in my time. The lack of strength displayed by him is alarming.

No offence mate but all this sorta stuff reads like fan fiction these days, if they can't even get an iota toward moving Ken on who the hell is talking about what a Josh Carr coaching department looks like.

They were working on parallel paths ever since the Brisbane debacle in June. They were working with the now (Ken), but at the same time they were aware that results weren't good enough and were planning contingencies accordingly.

They should have pulled the pin after the Brisbane game and I think ironically if it were up to the Board rather than the footy committee, they would have sacked Ken the following day. Instead Ken got a reprieve and was able to weasel himself out of another death trap.
