Even an umpire sitting on a chair with their hand on the net would have to be more accurate than an umpire sitting in a high chair.

Exactly! It makes no sense that they removed the net cord technology. They have an official on the court whose only job is to get the new balls for the ballkids. Might as well get them to sit at the net to monitor the net cord like the good old days. It's only fair for the players that a rule is officiated correctly.
