I'd like to thank Santa for granting last year's wish (stop the long bombs i50 to Stokes, or get him into the midfield).

If we end up letting Pods go we might be back in this situation given the poor health of our KPF's!

The following things will make me a very happy boy at Newtonmas:

1. Dawson Simpson plays 22 games in the seniors next year.
2. George Horlin-Smith plays 22 games in the seniors next year.
3. Tom Hawkins gets his back treated correctly, whether by surgery or not.
4. No senior player gets reported, and they actually realise idiotic acts do get penalised.
5. Daniel Menzel returns without fuss to the VFL, and plays the season out there. It might be a good idea to test changing directions and stopping and twisting before playing him again too.
6. Travis Varcoe has to earn his position in the team on merit.
7. Mitch Brown gets prolonged games in the backline as Lonergan's spot is gradually transitioned.
8. Nathan Vardy plays one position all season.
9. Billie Smedts realises he's not the only talented player in the competition, and adjusts his mindset accordingly.
10. Paul Chapman stays for another year and is used intelligently by the match committee (that means not interstate if necessary, and not as a sub ever).
11. Jimmy Bartel plays up forward and never kicks the ball from the opposition goalsquare ever again.
12. Senior players get dropped if they aren't playing well. Regardless of reputation, or (now irrelevant) past deeds.

Well, it is a wish list after all.
Was trying to find an old post which I can't seem to find, when I stumbled upon this thread. Partridge it seems at the conclusion of the H&A that only 2-3 have been realised or could be realised (Horlin-Smith currently has 19 games this year). So on reflection are you disappointed with how few have rang true or was it as much as you expected?

I wouldn't say disappointed, as it was a wish list. Some are beyond anyone's control - knee injury to Vardy, another back injury Simpson, yet another setback to Menzel. I'd say 2, 3, 4 and 11 are pretty much came to pass. This time last year I was sure Brown's future would be as a defender, it seems to have changed again, so who knows. Smedts I honestly don't think has done a great deal wrong this season, just things through injury at first then selection haven't fallen his way.

Am I dreaming

Joel Selwood - AA Captain, MVP, Brownlow, Norm Smith & Premiership Captain *

* obvious side benefits flow ...
But if we could only have one of what candiehappy wants, I'd go with premiership captain

All i want for xmas is a midfield coach who can help teach us how to win clearances.
May have to put that on the list for 2015. :thumbsu:

Last year we were 16th in clearances averaging 33.9 per game.... in 2014 we're 18th averaging 33.4 per game..... We've actually gotten worse at clearances!

- Dawson and McIntosh to shake off their injury woes and be fit and firing next season.
- Ditto for Menzel, Cowan and McCarthy.
- The likes of Motlop, Christensen and Duncan to keep on improving.
- Horlin-Smith, Kersten, Stringer and Schroder to get more games in the seniors.
- Hawthorn to be involved in the next ASADA scandal.
- Chappy to stay a Cat.
- Varcoe to return to his 2011 finals series form.

If I can get over Chappy you can

It's also about the clearance differential.

We're not as good overall as a team as we were last year, anyway. That's fine, it's to be expected after so many years at the top.

I know I looked at clearance differentials about 6 weeks ago. We're not good at that either.

Everything is fine and in hand. Nothing to be concerned about.
I wish I had access to first half vs second half clearance numbers to see if there is any difference between the two. Given this year I would suspect they would be worse in 2nd halves.
