What?

I leapt at the chance to see AEW live. It feels like a really special opportunity. Why should the show stop being something that you're excited to see?

The difference is that their PPVs are routinely amazing.

Recently, their tv has been garbage. And a tape delayed TBS/Max special is going to be closer to a Collision level broadcast than a Dynamite or a PPV.

The 8K turn out to to me is totally fine if your running a live event like WWE used to down here. If those numbers are accurate they could have been better off just doing the 3 live event "house" shows in Melb, Syd and Brisbane.
Too late to schedule more shows in Australia. AEW have already booked shows for first quarter of 2025.

Tuesday 11 February, taping Dynamite in Texas. Which means AEW talent will be leaving Wednesday US time and arriving in Australia Friday morning.

They also have a taping on Wednesday 19 February, which means they are probably departing Australia by Monday at latest.

Its a long way to come for just one show which is why they probably put all their eggs in the stadium show basket.

Lol, maybe five people in the world even know if this happened. I've never heard of it before in my life. You'd have to be incredibly petty to still be dwelling on something minor like this

It was a public tweet.

As I said, yes it’s all petty. But it encourages those sort of reactions when it comes back the other way.

Doesn’t bother me any of course but I do have a chuckle

Such a shit location though, especially for everyone that has booked (expensive!) accomodation near Suncorp/Roma St.

The number that Sapp went with was 8k for tickets sold... that's probably not even enough to automatically warrant it remaining in Brisbane depending on what the local promoter is advising around local conditions, stadium availability and government contracts.
Location is not that bad. Plenty of parking and a train station within 500m of the venue.

How would they know? I watch on Triller - I have espn but I'd never watch on it.
Haven't dug too deep into it, apparently there is some foxtel top 20 list that Dynamite was on once. And yes, it wouldn't include Triller views.

Added to Dynamite:

GdSAdyQXwAACgEf

Agreed.

Post was about who would be embarrassed. It only takes one to remember and re-circulate.

Someone mentioned the anti-AEW crowd. It certainly adds avoidable fuel to that fire with the swings and roundabouts.
Monkeys throw poop.

Who cares.

No one is embarassed by the opinion of anti AEW trolls, because they don't matter.

I wouldn’t say garbage, I would say underwhelming for their TV (Dynamite)

EVENT RELOCATED
AEW GRAND SLAM AUSTRALIA
Dear Ticket Holder,

The promoter of AEW Grand Slam Australia, wishes to advise you that the venue for Grand Slam Australia on Saturday 15th February 2025, has been changed to Brisbane Entertainment Centre 1 Melaleuca Dr, Boondall QLD 4034.

Ticketholders do not need to take any action, your new event tickets will be sent to your Ticketek App in the next 2 weeks. Your Stadium tickets will not be valid for the new venue.

If you have any queries about your re-issued tickets, please contact Ticketek here.

Enjoy the show!

Regards,
Ticketek Team.

Personally, i'm excited by the venue change. Crowd atmosphere is going to be way better than Suncorp.

I think I'll get excited, but for the next 2 weeks I'm going to have such anxiety over the seating. I have some special access needs, and I'd booked through their dedicated line for disabilities and special needs. So I should be ok... but I have zero faith in Ticketek.

I'll probably also reconsider accommodation. I'd paid for a really nice place near Suncorp Stadium, but I can cancel it for free... I might be better off in the northern suburbs with the 2 shows I'm going to in Eaton's Hill and Boondall.

We can probably rule out a really grand stage or anything featuring a big cage structure. There's a Bryan Adams gig (he's still alive?) on the Thursday night, that's an extraordinarily quick bump-out/bump-in for shows that will require different arena set-ups, they're going to have 24-30 hours bump-in at best.

edit: Brisbane is a weird place... are there no hotels in the northern suburbs?!

Are people entitled to a refund?

I've attached Ticketek's terms of sale below. The "significantly relocated" part is going to be arguable I guess - but you've got 4 weeks to decide, so maybe wait for new tickets, see what you think, then contact them. See whether they're offering refunds, or whether they're arguing that the relocation isn't "significant" - if they are, I guess a lot of people will be in the same boat and someone smart about the place will provide some advice.

Refunds, exchanges and replacements

Unless otherwise provided under the Refundable Tickets Terms and Conditions of Sale (if applicable):

  1. Ticketek does not offer refunds or exchanges as a result of a change in your personal circumstances or due to external factors such as, for example, adverse weather. Ticketek will only provide a refund or exchange a ticket if an event is cancelled, rescheduled or significantly relocated by the Seller (and you cannot or do not wish to attend the rescheduled or relocated event), or to the extent otherwise required by law (including the Australian Consumer Law). If an event is cancelled, you do not need to apply for a refund as we will automatically attempt to process a refund back to the original payment method used to purchase the ticket. Otherwise, you must apply for a refund by the earlier of: (a) 4 weeks after notification of the reschedule or relocation; or (b) 72 hours prior to the event. If you do not request a refund by that date, you will have agreed to the reschedule or relocation and will not be entitled to claim a refund;
  2. If an event is cancelled, rescheduled or significantly relocated by the Seller, all liability is limited to the amount for which the ticket was purchased (including any fees or charges unless otherwise notified at time of purchase). Proof of purchase may be required for any refund or exchange. Unless required by law (including the Australian Consumer Law), neither Ticketek nor the Seller will be liable for any other losses incurred by you as a result of the cancellation, rescheduling or relocation of an event, including any travel and accommodation expenses;

Looks like I’m rebooking accommodation. Hopefully some nice air bnbs close by

I've just spent the last 20 minutes looking around... Brisbane is strange with its complete dearth of hotels in massive areas (just motor inns...), I think for me I'll be better off staying near the public transport.

I’m thinkin I might stay where I am. Probably going to head out anyway so makes sense to be in the city

It’ll still be a good show but man how do you feel if you forked out a thousand plus for this thinking it was going to be a big event / PPV?
