besides a couple episodes in the middle didn't think a lot of this series.. I know it is building to the Filoni movie. Ezra, Hera and Sabine just did not work for me. seemed very different to their rebels characters. Also needed more chopper.

Like the Mandalorian recent season, this just doesn’t hold my interest enough. The Anakin gimmick was really not enough for me, although the Thrawn character has some potential.

I hope Andor remains in its current state - it was superb.
Ahsoka's finale left Ahsoka and Sabine trapped on Peridea and in another galaxy, Ezra is going to be trying to find a way to bring them. I was impressed by the Ashoka's legacy lightsaber.

I think it will be fine but I think companies are starting to realise that you can't just pump out material and expect fans to lap it up. This applies to Marvel, it has applied to Star Trek, Bond etc. Known IP seemed like a safe bet in the brave new world of streaming but there's limits to everything.

Maybe they off Ahsoka (good?), interesting to end it given that this show is the first proper clean slate for Star Wars with its setting in a different galaxy.

I wouldn't say it's a clean slate just because some of the scenes are somewhere we haven't seen before.

More that it's somewhere that SHOULD make it impossible to have anything to do with the old setting.

Should, being key. Filloni probably write up a way to get them in back in the midst of it.

I do hope somehow there’s a continuation of the Baylan Skoll arc. He was the best character for me in season 1 and was very keen to see what happens now that he’s made his discovery on that planet.

As for the main story, I can’t see how/why they don’t work their way back to the main galaxy eventually. Much was said during the season how crucial it is they stop Thrawn.

I get your other examples but how has Bond done this?

Fair. I was conflating two ideas, pumping out material and having down periods. Star Wars and Star Trek have had both, Bond has had down periods where the character has been less popular and come back, but not because it pumped out material. I'm still confident Star Wars will have a renaissance.

I think the key is to have the Mandalorian & Grogu be a standalone film and not bog it down with all their connecting characters. Its most successful period was season one because people loved not-Boba Fett and Baby Yoda. Just give us a film that perhaps explains Baby Yoda's past and sets up their future, not something designed to set up Filoni's movie. Then a Rey movie should have them back again as I think despite the mixed reaction to the sequels, she is largely a popular character.

I just hope whatever they do is a satisfying end to Ahsoka's character.

Doubtful she's still alive by Ep 9 but I guess if she is then Rey could just grab another missing puzzle piece of a map in her new movie and find a reclusive Jedi.

Ahsoka was one of the Jedi voices heard in that final battle in episode 9, I believe it’s almost certain that she’s a force ghost by that point in the timeline.

They really need to stop saying 'this is the last Jedi' only to walk it back and go 'wait, there was another, just kidding, every show needs to be set in this narrow timeline but still have a laser sword'.

Yeah Disney SW is so dysfunctional at this point the best thing they can do is sit on their hands.

I'm not a hater at all, but they badly need to reboot the entire division.

Not going to happen IMO.

Part of the "problem" with Star Wars for mine is the inflexible timeline, so Disney will then always prioritise individual people in an individual space and it then depends on the writing to be tight, which it just hasn't been for a fair while.
Marvels "problem" for eg is that they need to rebuild to add things like the F4, X-Men and others, so explanations needed. Their back cat is just kind of meh and niche (Eternals had like 4 runs to try it) so people drop, but no one really considers that they reboot everything anyway and everyone then comes back so it's cyclical and say WGAF that Fury was a white bloke and then became Mr Jackson later, it's still just Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D is S.H.I.E.L.D.

So both can tell poor stories, but only one is fluid enough to roll with the punches and "you're now a woman for a bit, guy", and it's not Star Wars, they go thousands of years in the past as inflexible timeline so plug here and there's no Jolee Bindo middle, it's one or the other and let me regale you about I'm right and you're wrong...
