Didn't even bother watching this game. Kept an eye on whether we would kick a goal and/or North kick 100pts.

We are 10th with a percentage of 49.2, and they want money and equal pay, get a grip on reality AFLW.

At least we have a Chief Vibes Officer.

I really enjoy the build up and following the Carlton AFLW, but gee it is hard to watch with such a gap in talent between the clubs. I really feel it is at a stage where they should have 2 divisions, the gap is just too great to make these sort of matches enjoyable for the viewers, yet alone the players.

2 divisions and a relegation system would be interesting.

Unfortunately we don't play a lesser skilled team this season, except for the Suns who we only just beat by a point already.

Pies by the end of the season, but they'll win that as they have something to play for.

Currently 18th on the ladder and haven't won a game.

AFLW will be dead within 5 years if the current trend continues of huge disparity in scores, uneven fixturing due to lack of rounds, talent pool distribution.

The ones in charge have royally screwed up this competition and now appear to want to let it die... "oh well we tried, the public didn't buy into it"... reality is $$$$$$$$$

I don't believe they will let it die, but yes, like everything the modern AFL does turns to 5h1t. Look at the men's game with umpiring, rule changes and interpretations, the MRO, it's all a mess, so how does anyone expect this competition to run any better?

They can make it better and hopefully they will along the way, but really feel that the AFL need a clean out and a change in direction. Yes, it is a business, but the game in it's purity sells itself. They need to let the footy talk and not ty to make it into something it is not (NFL)

As jooce said, 2 divisions with a relegation system would not be a bad idea until the talent pool grows.

Thanks Darcy and Dal Pos for your service but the game has gone past you. Not sure why Amelia Velardo is not playing but she should be in for the above two mentioned.

We don't have the big experienced midfielder like other teams have. Ours all very similar in Hill, McKay, Sherer etc

Also having Peterson and Vickers out has hurt.

Last night was truly awful. It had the whiff of concession as it unfolded. There is a gulf between 3 or 4 top teams and the rest. It reminds me of junior footy. However there’s never an excuse for a lack of effort and that’s what I saw last night. I can’t believe that our players are that slow or that sloppy with possession of the ball or that reluctant to put their heads and bodies over the ball. Our better players, apart from McKay and Sherar, displayed no fight.

A couple of weeks ago I thought there was improvement on display. After last night I’ve lost hope. I mean how do you improve this team? You can’t drop 10 and replace them.

Actually it's a not for profit and a peak body, governed by the AFL comission with a duty to put all profits into the clubs and the health of the game of Australian Rules Football, the absolute frauds.

I was called disrespectful for comments on Darcy last week. 2yr extension for what?

Moved to the wing they say? Missing in action.

What does the Chief Vibe Officer have to say this week? Another article drinking white wine?

Who is this ‘Chief Vibe Officer’ you speak of?

Why have we moved Hill to half back when she was our best on baller. And more concerning.. I read an article where she said it was her idea to move to half back late last year. Why would she want to do that.. does she not like the tough, physical contact in the middle? Does she think she’s better off half back? We need her back in the middle alongside McKay and Guerin. We have other players who can play half back but not as many who can genuinely impact in the middle.

Our female team seems to mirror our men’s team. It’s very good at the contested stuff but our skills are so poor and we can’t string multiple possessions together to retain possession and move the ball. Our forward line seems a weakness from what I’ve seen. Transitions out too easily and the opposition generate far easier and cleaner entries. We need a lot of work. The competition has about 3 good teams who dominate. 2 or three in that next bracket and then a whole heap of teams straggling behind. This will be the case 5 years from now still as the way they set the competition up was so poor IMO.

Totally agree re the AFLW and expanding too quickly.

To slow down the hurt of the current thrashings, could you split the 18 teams into 8 and 10?

Best 8 play 14 games, (full fixture), then a final 4 for the premiership and the 7th and 8th get relegated.

Bottom 10 play, say, 14 games, then a final 4 where the top 2 get promoted.

The two groups would therefore have 17 week seasons.

If the number of rounds is too many, just reduce to fit though a full fixture is best.

I know Darcy will always have a special place in blues W history but it’s been 2 years since they played even a half decent game. Darcy doesn’t chase, hasn’t kicked a goal in 5 games and only touches it 7 times a game.

The only veterans we’ve been able to hang on to are vescio and pound who are 2 of the players from the early years that the game has moved past very quickly.

Between us and the bulldogs for the title of “foundation club” who got hit the hardest by list changes but excuses mean nothing. We need solutions.

1 goal in 2 games of footy is embarassing

I think the AFLW has been very volatile in the early years, we came into the comp in 2019 and we only have 7 players left from the inaugural team of 30 odd players. We kind of lucked out that Collingwood imploded the same year we came in and a number of their players wanted to leave until they sacked their coach.

I think we had more talent in year 1 and 2 than we do now, but there was a huge variance between the good and not so good players and our system was poor back then. I think the gap between the good and not so good players has narrowed a lot, so it is more of an even contribution. We also don't bomb the ball as much as we used to, try to retain the ball and hit shorter options. We've also had a very restricted access to the draft, not complaining, but Geelong has been given a swag of top early picks when I think they could have made their side more competitive early on.

We used to get comprehensively outplayed by Adelaide, Melbourne and Brisbane, they had far deeper talent pools, much better system just had advantages in terms of speed, physicality, etc. You don't need stars to compete, having some stars is great but I think having a good system your players can execute is critical and then over time find players that suit that system. A lot of the ladies we have that are critical part of our team were players that other clubs had ample opportunity to pick up.

Not saying this to say "look at us", but I think if you have a sound system there is plenty of talented ladies that can come in and play that standard of footy. Geelong has had significant access to the early part of the draft where I think Hawks look very similar to us in terms of they seem to have a very good system and move the ball well and seemed to have passed Geelong already despite only being around a couple of seasons.

.
Vescio riding off the coat tails of a couple of good games throughout her career, slow and no second effort.
Delpos has never played a good game yet still gets selected, Skepper no tank no second effort the list goes on....
I feel sorry for the few players that put in the extra effort, while others go home and sit on the ****ing couch.
Our womans fitness department needs an overhaul pronto along with quite a few of our lazy players shown the door, changes need to happen... our standards are too low.

The couldn't and shouldn't let it die. There's enough money in the overall game to fund it. I drove past Kardinia Park last night and a lot of people walking to the ground to watch so it has an audience.

In local woman's footy they play early grading games to even out the comp.

Maybe we do that for the next 5 years and then re-assess.

Not offering mua a contract was criminal.

Guerin for mine.

She's playing well, but she's missed a lot of football that's no doubt pushed her timeline back.

I agree with others saying putting Hill back into the middle would give the entire midfield some pace and outside polish.

I'd imagine Mimi is playing down back more than likely to cover for Vickers being out, but to me it's robbing Peter to pay Paul.

At this stage of the list's development I'd rather us be at least semi-competive in the middle and leak a few goals than be completely smashed in the middle and save a goal here and there.
