"I'd like to see where it actually goes. They're putting money into women's carnivals and inter- national carnivals and they're never going to get an AFL player out of any of those."
give the swans zone rights to country wa...
No...
The AFL should fund grassroots footy equally across all states. If $1.75 per participant is being funded in Victoria, the same should be applied in WA, SA, Tas. I can accept perhaps more may need to be spent in developing areas.
That is completely aside from the AFL wanting to get control of the revenue and profits from the two AFL clubs.
That's like saying the AFL won't fund country footy around Geelong, unless the GFC give up control of their revenue. Why would they do that? Or the EDFL doesn't get support unless the EFC give up control of their revenue.
Grassroots footy is a completely separate issue from two AFL sides. The only reason it looks complicated is because in addition to any national funding, the two WA teams also fund football locally as well.
Does Richmond do that? Does Richmond pour millions into the Ovens/Murray league?
I am not sure why the AFL continue to want to harm everything outside there world. Things in WA go fantastic, why try to change something that works so well?
If it's so great, why are you whining?
You would think...
The members of the WA clubs pay extortionately more for our memberships and access to games each year.
In fact, if the members of North / Bulldogs etc paid more than double for their memberships (bringing them to what we pay in WA) the Vic clubs wouldn't have financial issues.
That additional money is what significantly funds our large profits and also allows us to support local footy.
As soon as you ask a Victorian supporter how many millions their club spends supporting local footy - they all of a sudden go very quiet.
Does WCE or Freo directly fund these things, or do they send money to the WAFL who does so?
Either way, the deal made between the (then) VFL and WAFL was that the WAFL controlled football in the state.
If you want the AFL to control football in WA as much as it does in the eastern states, then I'm sure they'll fund it equally.
Which is due to both clubs owners, the WA Football Commission refusing for years to entertain any moves to build a larger stadium to meet the demand in WA for access to games. This refusal by the WAFC has allowed them to price gouge Freo and WC members and something they would rather not change.
I was paying $5000 per year for a 3 game NMFC membership; how much is yours again? That is very true JRoo but the facts are we pay twice what your members pay.
One would think if your club or others just added an extra $100 per membership then financially it would be better for your club.
Would your members not pay it?

Errrrrr the AFL funds football across Australia, but is largely removed from WA which is funded primarily by WC and the state.This.
We keep hearing 2 things from WA to the AFL. (outside the comp itself)
"Keep out of WA football"
and
"Give us money"
Can people in WA not see that the two are tied together?

North members having been contributing lots of $$$ to the club which will see the clubs debt reduce to about $2.7 million this year with a view to be debt free in 18 months.
That would be your club owners fault you pay what you pay.
$5000 for 3 game membership??? Do you get to sit on Brayshaws lap?
Our membership has tiers like everyones I guess. But mine personally is $600 for 11 games as a premium member. It goes up about about $30-50 Yearly

...and Harry Taylors, Jaeger O'Mearas, Nic Naitanuis, Lance Franklins and in your case Jesse Hogans. If it means less Cale Mortons and Hayden Ballantynes' then that has to be a good thing right?
Slight tangent... Surely Sydney's COLA allowance isn't actually funded by the AFL?
I'd imagine it's all atleast still coming from Sydney's coffers....
Who was the WAFL President back in the 1980's? Whoever it was, he and Max Basheer have a ******* lot to answer for. Instead of fighting and doing back room deals to get a truely national football league off the ground they were more interested in trying to maintain their crumbling empires. Does anyone remember the the Player Retention Scheme the SANFL introduced back then? Jesus. So we end up with an expanded VFL with all power located in Melbourne, but old Maxy gets a stand at the new Adelaide Oval named after him (Even though he is fuming SA football is leaving the delapidated piece of shit at West Lakes that he was involved in building).
If it's so great, why are you whining?
And WA is probably the biggers net contributor of players to the AFL.
Harley Bennell, Jaerger O'Meara, David Swallow, Jack Martin and Brandon Matera... talk about WA talent vampires. The three highlighted are country products who have played in the regional leagues.Yep. Without the WAFC investing in junior football, there is no way Gold Coast would be the up and coming competitive outfit it looks like being.
