I think my biggest concern at the moment, is the appearance of lack of effort. Our midfielders seem to get pushed around by other sides bigger midfielders. At the moment if someone took a hit I dont see anyone bar Maxwell sticking up for them.

If Keefe was fit (haven't seen his VFL form), I would love to try him in the backline and Reid back in at CHF and have Lynch Resting Ruck playing a bit higher up the ground.

I think everyone is over estimating how good Goldsack is, he is great because he provided tackling pressure and would pop up with 1 or 2 goals. But he isn't good enough to be CHF neither is Lynch. Everyone forgets 2010 / 11 when we tried him there and he was rubbish.

Changes
In: Reid, Keefe (If form allows it), Jolly, Krak
Out: Hudson, Kennedy, Sinclair ( I thought he was good and is steadily improving but someone has to go), Martin (I have been a big fan, but seems to gets lost at times and haven't noticed him having much of an impact last couple of rounds, not sure if this is because he is spending more time in forward line)

Wow you read my mind. This is spot on what I want us to do.

We need to do something with the forward line. Its been inept for months and this is our best option. This is presuming Reid is fit of course. Krak brings some goal kicking nous and Young some penetration & punch. The sooner we get Keefe in the better, IMO the player we have missed most out of all our injuries since the plague started in 2012. He probably will need some time to get in the swing of things, so the sooner he is in the sooner he can start swinging.

Lynch has run his race. An inanimate carbon rod would provide a better forward target. His pinch hitting in the ruck will be missed but, pinch hitting rucks don't win games - forwards who kick goals do. Reid is a marking threat & is agile and can kick the ball. I was hoping Paine or Witts would be options as well, but its clear they are not yet ready.

Williams, Shaw & Sinclair will be vital in shutting down the Blues smalls who always tear us to bits. Sinclair has been pretty good since moving back & should definitely stay in.

Martin can be an impact sub, better than most, but if Young is not quite fit enough he could be handy as a sub.

In rod we trust!

No way in hell would Keeffe come in.. He's only had 3 games back from the knee reco. He would be a liability unable to run games out.

As compared to Lynch?

Keeffe has to play. He gives us flexibility forward back and in ruck. Nobody else on our list provides that. He can be subbed off for a running type at 3 4 time if required.

We dont have the luxury at this time of year getting players fully match fit. Better to bring him and Young in as soon as possible and fast track their match fitness, especially considering we will have Beams and Goldsack coming back soon as well. I'd rather Keeffe and Young at least had a few senior games under their belts before we brought more underdone players in. It would be an even bigger mistake to have all four of them coming into the side in the same week.

I've got to disagree about dropping Macaffer joefootylover. I think Buckley has picked poor match ups for him the last two weeks. I think if we get his match up right he is a big boost to the side.

You are dead right about Martin not spending time in the middle, which seems crazy to me considering he has the highest clearance % of any player at Collingwood. If Martin & Blair swapped roles it would be a massive win/win situation.

I don't think the Wingard match-up was a bad one for him really, Macaffer just had a shocker with 2 of his own crucial errors resulting in Wingard hitting the scoreboard, take out those 2 errors and Wingard's game looks a hell of a lot different.

Maybe Russell should stay in, maybe he will give us something against his old mob? Or maybe he'll just crap himself as usual, when he see's the footy..

This is almost cardable.
I'm taking one for the team.
I lose bets. So this will increase our chances of winning.....I hope ;)
Plus Sportsbet are having a promotion if your team loses by 20 points or less you get your money.
And since we never win by big margins it's almost fail safe. So everyone should bet on the scum to increase our chances! Unless you're someone that always wins their bets then maybe not.
PS. I'm not promoting gambling. Unless it somehow helps us win.

Looks like Young and even Beams could come straight back in.

Young has played 2 games with a break between the two, so l would expect him to be ready to go.
There is no way we should Beams straight in, far more beneficial to manage his game time through VFL.

With gambling you have to be careful.

Just remember always always always chase your losses. Head first down the rabbit hole, it's the only way to catch up.

Nah I was just kidding. Well not kidding about losing. But I only place like shitty 50cent bets and stuff. :p
But yeah I chase my losses as hard as Swanny has been chasing this year.

I wouldn't bring in Beams this week, he can have one game in the VFL and then straight into the team. In the next two weeks hopefully we have Beams, Jolly, Reid, Young and Goldsack back in the team, that is the only slim hope I have left for this year. If we still can't perform then stuff it changed will need to be made in the off season.

That'll put size into the forward line, experience into the midfield and size/experience into our backline. Those additions will make an enormous difference. Need Moneybags to play that medium sized forward role again IMO.

Don't forget Krakour too who should add forward pressure into the mix.

A good tagger is able to handle a multiple of opponents, you can't be so one dimensional that if your particular type of opponent isn't playing then you are a liability. He needs to improve as a tagger no doubt, but he is new.

Bring him back in.....go for broke.

He had plenty of his types to tag against Port. Boak, Hartlett, Ebert and Broadbent all suitable options. I think Buckley got it totally wrong on that one. Ditto vs Bulldogs.

One thing is for sure, I am looking forward to Sinclair an Williams going head to head with garlett and betts who usually touch us up. Could the demise of toov be a blessing in disguise? No-one can replace him but when he comes back we could have 3 quality small defenders. Sinclair yet to prove himself but he has been good lately, Williams has always been a quality stopper. We actually match up well with cartoons forwards this week for once.

Brown to Waite
Reid to resting ruck man (assuming he plays)
Shaw to walker
Sinclair to garlett
Williams to betts
