STATE OF PLAY:
  • The game is out for Steam and PlayStation. There have been issues with Xbox release and it is unclear when the game will be available.
  • Big Ant are aware that there are playability issues & bugs at present.
  • Content has been temporarily removed from the game to identify where the issues lie.
  • This content will be re-introduced via patches in the coming days.
  • Big Ant have released a summary of what is to be reintroduced, which can be seen below.

Gotta learn to adapt. It's over short and fast. Wouldn't want a slow swing that took time.

The only other idea I can think of is a end-to-end locked cam with your goals always at the top of screen, similar to FIFA
We'd like to do that, have tried it in the Studio, have to pull the camera too far back though to see the oppo kick destination.
 
I've noticed pausing and unpausing the game fixes the scoreboards not being on, they then switch off again randomly though so it's not a permanent fix, possibly the AFL logo flashing across the screen turns it off?

Could you fix it most of the time, but give the player control over when to swing the camera? Would reduce the camera swinging several times in short succession as possession changes hands, but would avoid the distance problem.

Hey Ross just looking at my build it two days behind should I delete the game and start again ps5 I have tried clicking check update but nothing BigAntStudios
This is one for support.bigant.com as you shouldn't be able to play unless you are up to date - and the PS operating system should update you.
 
BigAntStudios not sure whats causing the in-game date to be 2077 but is that going to be fixed also? I think its got a large impact on Management Mode especially.
Is it a weird coincidence that's the date in Cyberpunk 2077 lol?
 
It is public knowledge that there are Simultaneous Shipping restrictions in place. There is nothing I can say publicly about the ongoing discussions due to NDA's.
I appreciate the reply. I don't understand it, but I appreciate it.

Is there a date that we can expect an official announcement/more info?
 
BigAntStudios i understand this isn’t top of the priority list, and agree that gameplay should remain at the top, however do you have a timeline on when management mode will be ready to go? As someone who doesn’t play online, this is something I’m really eager to get stuck into.
Appreciate the huge effort yourself and the team have put in so far!

Oh ok. Does this mean we won't get anything at all until it's on shelves?

I understand that there's a lot of stuff going on behind the scenes that we can't know about, but don't understand why the basics are so secretive. I would've thought that the simultaneous shipping stuff would've gone out the window when the other platforms were released.

The longer this goes on it makes me worry that it won't come to Xbox at all
 
Yep, that happens way too often. I’m not sure if it’s just online (I don’t play much else) but the AI randomly playing on for you after a mark is also extremely frustrating.
Not just online, happened to us when playing 2 player offline. Sometimes you'll press nothing and it decides to mark, kick, handball, play on whatever. Then sometimes you press X to kick over the mark and it goes 50m backwards to an opponent on their own

Well Big Ant made the call to release an Early Access title on PC and PlayStation, and those gamers are beta testing it for for free, so it's not all doom and gloom for Xbox.

It's not like we're missing on much right now.

Definitely, 100% not random.

As there were a number of claims on here about varying difficulty, I had guys look at that specific code on Friday to be sure.

All difficulty levels will have increases in difficulty over the coming days.
Thanks for the reply, I'm no game developer but is the code different in "Play Now" mode compared to season/management in terms of difficulty? Would it be affected by previous code running past results or anything? As It seems the difficulty get's easier in these modes during the second match onward. Maybe there is something that is interupting the difficulty? Again, ignore my ignorance as I don't understand how exactly it works, I just understand what I play
 
What's worse is when you actually hit a tackle, drag the player to the ground then the tackle animation finishes so your player let's go and the guy with the ball who got tackled just gets up and runs off while the AI players just stand around doing nothing.
You do realise you have to hold the player to the ground, if you release the tackle button, your player will let them go (which is actually very realistic)
 
Is there a scenario where you'd want to let go of the tackle?
You wanna keep your dude in the play. If you tap the tackle button instead of holding there is actually a chance the opposition will quickly drop the ball, i.e dispose incorrectly, so again fairly realistic.

Wanted to do a fancy kick for goal, do the shot meter and at the release of the meter this happens.....

This was a good passage of play, it started from the full back line (had to chop out 15 seconds to make the gif boo-urns!!). Love how the GWS player almost stopped the run, only to handball it straight back to the Hawthorn player, making it an easy goal.

This game is getting really good, todays patch added wind direction animation, more refined ruck contests, handballing feels good, mind you, I only use play-now for a quick game. Not many complaints here, looking forward to specky function and I think you’ve got the best footy game I’ve ever played. Easy. Might try playing a season.

Chip and short precision kicking is really satisfying, and I like that the player you were intending has a green circle 🟢.

Handballing is really fun, stringing a 360 passage in the middle is great fun, even whilst being tackled.

Also wanted to mention the commentary, I think it’s been edited and done really well, has a nice flow to it.

Xbox fans get excited I say.

Yes the speccy is really all I'm missing at the moment.

Had a great seesawing game vs Freo on medium difficulty this morning. Freo were up by 3 goals with a couple mins to play, but I pegged them back and won by a straight kick or so in the end. The key was stemming the tide of their momentum, which obviously can be a little difficult without changeable tactics, but we managed to neutralise the ruck contest and get our mids on top at the death when it mattered.

I did find spoiling the opposition to be quite difficult, especially on Matt Taberner. Made the dude look like Wayne Carey, except he kicked like 4.5 LOL. His inaccuracy saved me.
 
Can you feel the difference between players? Speed/skills etc?

One example is lining up for goal, selected forwards are better kicks at
goal, and players have varied kicking distance accuracy in F50..I would say you can tell the difference between an A grade player and an average player. A tall ruckman can smother and tap the ball down easier, but I don’t know if I’ve played enough to know what player I am controlling from distance, because I use side-view zoomed to medium distance.
