Melbourne never had a dynasty side. Not even close.

They were the best side in 2021. Sure. Their average winning margin that year was impressive, even though it massively inflated by 3 absolute drubbings. They were nowhere near as dominant as they were made out to be.

All they've had in the last 5 years is Gawn, Petracca and Oliver in the middle, and May and Lever down back. The rest of the side has been bog average. Who is their best forward over the last 5 years? Fritsch?

They were never that good.

They have lost Jackson, Brayshaw, Neal-Bullen, Harmes and Brown from the 2021 team. Oliver is a shadow of his old self.

If they’d kept the players fit and hungry it should have still been a top 4 list in 2025.
