If umpiring was fair, you would've played against West Coast tonight. You win some, you lose some with the umps. You can't control it.

What you'd like to be able to control is being outmarked, outrun, outtackled, out pressured, outskilled and generally outplayed in all areas. GWS was all of those things and an 8 goal + Collingwood win would've been more reflective of the gulf between the sides on the night.

Suck it up princess :thumbsu:

But I’ve never said Collingwood didn’t come out of the blocks hard tonight, I’ve definitely stated there was a massive difference between the two sides in the first quarter. Collingwood did not capitalise in this. But the umpiring decision means they were not held accountable for their error. If you think that’s a good thing...

I don't think so...
Oh and the football world doesn't revolve around free kicks given against GWS.
Now take off your tinfoil hat and go to sleep...

No, but the world does involve reality. A team learns nothing by not being held accountable for their mistakes. Simple fact.

It was 2 goals something veeeery early when we decided to rock up, well before the QT free kick count, which was 8-2 btw. Don’t be a sore loser.

I’m not being a sore loser, I am finding myself constantly repeating myself though. There is zero ambiguity that Collingwood came out of the blocks hard, no one is even arguing this. But you cannot be proud of their conversion rate with that amount of the football surely? And whose fault is this? But does Collingwood learn anything by getting soft free kicks to help them “have another go”?

Well obviously GWS haven't learnt from their mistakes...eliminated again.

If we’re going to go below the belt, how many GFs has Collingwood appeared in, compared to how many have they actually won... I’m not sure you want to go there this early in the final series.

Collingwood has played in a record 43 grand finals, including in recent memory 2002, 2003, 2011... 2018?

My point was in response to your free kick count at QT (which was incorrect) that we kicked our first 2 goals before any ‘influence’ by the umpires. Our third goal for the term was a valid free kick too.

But it doesn’t count what GWS could have done if the competition was even in the second half of the first quarter.

You’re right. The Pies didn’t kick straight tonight. They have nothing but themselves to blame because most of them were shots without pressure. The simple fact is the best 4 teams have made it to the prelimary final.
Whether the Pies won’t by 10 points or 8 goals is irrelevant. We go to the next round of finals. You can either watch the best 4 teams in the AFL playoff next week or you can go on holiday. Fairly straight forward if you ask me. No need to worry about the free kicks you got and the free kicks you didn’t. It’s only relevant to the losers. The better teams that deserve to win end up winning. The teams that aren’t quite there will look at it as an excuse, rather than the real reason they aren’t good enough.

Exactly, it doesn’t help Collingwood next week that there was the umpire bias in the first quarter. That’s why Buckley called the AFL umpires association at quarter time to plead with them that they wanted a real game of AFL. Buckley and the Collingwood football club want to play tough accountable football.

Which they did and were far too good for GWS. The Pies were in full control of the game and ran away with it in the last quarter. The real issue for the Pies is that GWS are really not that good. People seem to be blinded by their high draft picks and fail to see that they don’t have the ability to survive tough, hard finals footy and seem to panic.
So hopefully for us, playing a top side such as the eagles last week will make up for last night’s opposition.
But what else can the Pies do? You can only beat who is in front of you.
Hopefully for your team’s sake the umpiring in the 2/3/4 quarters which helped GWS keep in touch doesn’t hide the fact that you have a long way to go to compete in finals footy.

You seem to be somewhat obsessed about what will or won’t “help” Collingwood. Just relax Tony Robbins.

Yeah I think what he is admitting is that if the Pies played against a stronger opposition, it would have helped them next week. We can only play ‘tough, accountable football’ if we play against a tough, accountable opposition which unfortunately we didn’t get on the night.

I’m just surprised that when I brought this up, especially after the decisions given against Collingwood in the West last week, that there weren’t more Collingwood supporters agreeing with me... I thought there would be more Collingwood supporters stating that they started vomiting on their AFL umpires association poster pinned to their wall after the first quarter in disgust.

Yeah, I’ve been hanging out for the day for the Giants to play finals football... unfortunately the Giants aren’t good enough to get there, but one year they will...

Yeah but it’s no use just ‘getting there’. The Giants seem to crumble under high pressure footy. That’s finals footy. Wish we had a harder workout as you have insinuated on numberous occasions we needed. Anyway, we’ll just need to make do and continue to move forward. Not as fortunate as the Dees who got a good hit out from the hawks (which was expected).

Hope you got to the game. Hope you came from that shithole in western Sydney. And hope you enjoy the bus back home.

No, I’m saying if a team isn’t accountable for their errors, they don’t learn. No coach in the history of the game would accept unaccountable players. Fact.

If the umpiring becomes “give them another go” the team loses accountability. Fact.

No you’re confusing yourself. What you are saying is that the Giants can’t cope with high pressure football and, unfortunately for the Pies, they didn’t get a proper ‘finals footy’ hit out. But mate, don’t stress, because we aren’t.

That’s a bit harsh. They went all the way with the bulldogs in 2016 (not counting 13-23, have a guess what this means) after beating the Swans in the first final. They were also very convincing against Swans last week, and not including the start of the first and final quarters where they were not competitive, they weren’t bad tonight. If the umpires also gave them a go in the first quarter, they could have done better. The ten score differential mostly came from this first quarter. Last year, yes, they weren’t competitive in the final series. That’s only one final series out of three.

Nope, or then your saying Collingwood couldn’t do the same when they came up against the Eagles last week?

It’s ‘you’re’.
It was a great tough, accountable game against the Eagles last week. High pressure finals footy. Unfortunately, we got over-run in the last 5 mins. Anyway, I’m out. Enjoy the bus ride.

2010? Your memory is conveniently not that good.
The facts are GWS are not good enough at present.
Their 'bottom 6' players are worse than the Pies 'bottom 6'.
You were outplayed.
Best team won.

GWS fan should be very proud of their boys. Particularly Toby and Jez who really turned it on.

Maybe next year.

With Leon at the helm a flag is just a matter of time...
You must be desperately hoping for a respectable year next year. We're really confident our club wont accept mediocrity, must be awful supporting a club that embraces it.
