**** this logic is stupid.

Riddle me this.

The umpires blatantly cheat to get the Eagles back into the game, right? But somehow, they don't cheat in the last couple of minutes to prevent the Demons from winning? They just cheat for a little bit and then get cold feet about their match fixing at the crunch time? So they actually suck at cheating and they can only attempt to cheat?

They made mistakes, yes. Obviously. Players made dozens more. But don't be a ******* moron, there was no cheating.

If there was cheating from umpires, the Eagles would have been dragged over the line.

Love ya work mate. Good balanced views :thumbsu:

I missed the game, is Viney injured?
Hurt his shoulder, got taped and jabbed, missed a bit of game time and still nearly beat the contested possessions in a game record. Even found time to clean up Hurn before he was done.

MRP solely seems to suspend on outcome. So yes, and he jumped past the ball anyway.

Nah he jumped up to get the ball.

Oh well, would rather talk about how good the Mighty Demons were, terrific come back with men down against a west coast team with their tails up at home.

Best thing about the Demons this year is I never think they're out of a game. Have come back from deficits in multiple games, the belief in this young team is astounding. Viney is a contested beast, combined with Oliver and Petracca makes me salivate over the next decade of watching contested footy after the bruise free era weve come out of.

Tommy McDonald has added another string to our bow as a team also with his ability to swing forward. Add Watts and Hogan into that team and it's a very tough team to match up against and gives us flexibility.

Any normal person would be out of work for a month but not Viney such tough nut.

Was an intense game. You're right though, much happier with the points :p

Infuriating loss. Stock standard West Coast unfortunately.

If there was a stat for momentum to reward ratio we'd be last in the comp. Our work around the clearances with two supposed gun inside players who've won Brownlows is poor. We regularly (week in week out, not just tonight) have numbers around the ball - as in right around the ball, within 2m of it - and then it spills out to the opposition who have free players everywhere. So within a 2m radius of the ball we have say 5 on 3, then within 30m we have none of 4. How do we manage to do that?

McDonald was very good, but he operated in a lot more space than our forwards. I can cop him kicking 5 the way he played, but we needed to play smarter. Too much slingshot footy with Melbourne attacking into space.

Gawn was really important. Schooled Vardy (who's a trier, but really not much chop as a ruckman) and we should've been smarter about that.

Most disappointing aspect for mine is that we had Melbourne done without about 10 to go. A couple of goals up, a set shot for goal and Melbourne players looking panicked and not sticking to their structures. Jetta missed the shot which happens, but we needed to keep the pressure on and stop Melbourne from getting the ball out which we clearly did not. No killer instinct.

It might be because he looks relatively young, but I feel like I'm watching a player have a presser rather than a coach with Goodwin.

It's just the dees style. We get smashed on inside 50s, particularly from clearances.
Extra man behind the ball negates them blast out of defence.

It's not the fact that we are winning games that we've been getting pumped for 15 years previously but the way they are doing it.

Watching Frost and Hunt sling shotting out and taking the game on is awesome to watch.

He wasn't hired for his media charm that's for sure.
He's due to come out and say we will just take it week by week at this stage.

Jayden Hunt in particular is underrated by a lot. It's the blueprint for beating us - we tend to go in tall, the smaller running defenders and the half forward flankers tend to murder us.

That statistics doesn't show where West Coast got those frees, and at what stage of the game WC got those frees. The Eagles were 4 goals down and got cheap frees that go them back into the game. It is a farce. It is pathetic and an absolute blight on the competition. Tonight was a joke. It should be investigated. The Melbourne victory tonight overshadows what was a blatant attempt of cheating by the umpires.
Couldn't agree more

And for all this carry on, the Demons still won.
The better team wins 99.99% of the time.

Just like how the Eagles 16-8 free kick count v GWS resulted in a loss, but their 12-15 v Dogs resulted in a win.

Turnovers at crucial moments, dumb positioning and losing one-on-one contests - all by PLAYERS - are much more impactful than umpires
I was being ironical.
