Don't know if they fixed this in 06 or not but it is way to easy to score goals, the computer rarely ever scores behinds, it gets kinda annoying after a while.

It's hard to police that and I'll explain why....when rating all the players we tend to bump up the accuracy ratings of forwards/attacking midfielders. This is so that when you have control of them in front of goal the gaol HUD meter slows down to reflect that player's ability to kick for goal. Only human error on your part should see him miss 'gettable' goals. When the AI has control of that player he will most likely kick the goal if he has a high accuracy rating. What we are trying to do is introduce a more random element when the AI has control as well as taking into consideration the position of the player taking the kick along with the goal kicking type (drop punt/torpedo). We will make changes to the accuracy of torpedo kicks so that they are more of a distance weapon rather than accurate in their execution.
I hope that explained some things...

I havent been through every post but this what I would want:

* Being able to do interchanges before the match. Enter the minute mark of the game you want to do the change and you can save this for all matches...
* A setting where you can do auto interchanges when a player gets too fatigued

Pretty sure the first one won't be in there but it's very likely the second option will be in the game. This means we'll have to tweak the speed at which the stamina bar goes down. In a 2-minute quarter game you'll have interchanges happening left, right and centre!

If you wanna make the game the best have a look at pro evolution soccer 6 and base it on that. What a great game that is. I think the afl game definetly needs cutscenes to make it more realistic. Cutscences for fights or melees, injuries, arguing with an umpire and goal celebration

We do look at those games. However we in no way have the budget or timeline they have to get games out. We are doing our best to bridge the gap however.

With regards to cutscenes...we won't be including those things in 2007. We're running out of time.

I dont have a PS2 so I dont know if this has been fixed in the latest, but drafted players are always crap and don't get any better. Has this been fixed?

I bought AFL 2006, but was very disappointed with it to be honest.

I posted previously my grievances on this forum, so I wont detail them all again.

I have only ever played about two seasons, the drafting/trade system was the biggest turnoff for me, and the gameplay hadn't been improved enough from previous versions.

I doubt very much that I will be buying AFL 2007.

FH, Just wondering if you have fixed this problem?

When playing season mode, if you play 2 minute quarters will all the computer controlled teams play 2 minute quarters against each other? because it makes it hard to win coleman medals and stuff when you only play 2 minute quarters whilst all the other teams play full games?

FH, have you seen my posts? I took some time and I'd appreciate it if you read them.

If you have read them, then thanks mate :)

The first one I feel is very very important to the game.

Cheers mate

MG

P.S Where are we looking regarding release date? Seems you're running out of time, guess a release @ Round 5-ish?

P.P.S With Edit-A-Player-O-Matic-Whatever, will be be able to change hair colour, style and face type?

P.P.P.S Can we toggle random facial hair on/off? I don't like seeing Ben McKinley with a giant beard R1 2006 :p

P.P.P.P.S Have any new hairstyles or face typed been added?

P.P.P.P.P.S I AGREE THAT THIS GAME HAS MORE POTENTIAL ON PC AFTER PLAYING PE WITH MY FANCY NEW COMPUTER. INDIVIDUAL SCANNED PLAYER FACES WERE A REALITY. WOO!

Mate every game is sooooooo much better on a PC but sony has the rights :( and lets hope the AFL give the next rights to someone that does more than 1 platform plus then you might get a better all-round game.

I wonder if FH Gets offended hearing ******** like this?

This is kinda freaky...I was talking about this to a programmer today. Scores will definitely reflect the time allocated to quarters in 2007. So if you manage to kick 4 goals in a game with 2 minute quarters you can expect other games to follow suit. It's vitally important we get this right this time around as now you can check out stat categories for the season so it should be an even playing field.

MG, I know I'm always under the pump to get a reply in quick to you but I've been very busy of late. I have indeed read them but I tend to respond to the short questions/posts due to my tight time schedules but I'll try to do some justice to your post here.

I'll start with all yer P.S comments/questions on this post and work my way back;

- a release date hasn't been made official yet but it will indeed be in the first half of the season. That includes counting the pre-season games. We are still waiting on a lot of information from the AFL with regards to uniforms/sponsors, not to mention all the updated player photos for season 2007.

- Yes to colour, style but not sure about face type. Can't see why you wouldn't be able to though.

- Random facial hair is still there and there are no plans as yet to make it an on/off option.

- The faces have been reworked and some time has been set aside to create more variety and better versions of the hairstyles.

- I can't do anything about PC/Xbox versions guys. Let it go for now.

Id love to create a player with a green mohawk or something

Hey we finally agree on something! :)'

Yeah, what RL says FH.

Oh and make the CPU not keep torping shots at goal.

Oh and also, the goal accuracy of the CPU on any difficulty is ridiculous, especially on Hard.

I know you seem to want to "make it harder" by increasing accuracy (to an extreme degree) as difficulty increases but there is a line between difficulty and realism mate.

And Nathan Brown... From 55 on the boundary. Torps. Goals.... His 5th from that spot. Puts the tigers to 12.1 73...

Oh and also, the handball is pretty much superfluous. No point to doing it really. Mainly because in real life if you have like 2 guys coming straight at you like 1m in front you're gonna get smashed and you need to handball. In 2006, you just boot the ball right through them. Or they dive like 1m to your side. Or they don't bother tackling. Or you simply press triangle and eade both of them.

And the game is played straight up and down the ground. Just bomb stright up the guts, goal.

In real life, you need to:

A. Handball
B. Use strategy
C. Kick short
D. Look for options
E. Use the wings and flanks
F. Avoid turnovers

Oh and another thing. Say I boot the ball from 55. The full back is there all alone. Ball goes right aboe his head. Goal. Doesn't even jump.

IN. 2007. YOU. MUST. BE. ABLE. TO. GET. "A HAND". TO. A. BALL. TO. PREVENT. A. GOAL. WITHOUT. MARKING. OR. SPOILING.

If not I will scream in frustration.

In real life, defenders/players jump to touch the ball to prevent "all clear" and a goal. They dive to do the same.

In 2006, you can't do either.

MG

P.S Could you post a pic of yourself and maybe a few of "the HQ"? I guess you post here from IR HQ.

P.P.S Say hello to the dev team for me. Tell them they all must read all of this or else we won't buy the game :)

P.P.P.S Sorry for sounding like a douche.

Ok...

1. AI will use the torpedo less this year. The idea is to make the torp less accurate and a lot harder to kick so you'll really only use it to either bomb it long forward or to get it out of defence and regroup.

2. I've explained the issue with goal accuracy in another post.

3. We acknowledge that there needs to be more contested football and that the handball isn't as effective as it could be. I for one am a big advocate of powering up handballs so that you can either jab handball it in traffic or power up and send it over the top. We have noticed it's an issue and hope to address it.

4. You can play the game as you listed above in steps. I've used that method and found the game to be more enjoyable. You really get to explore the subtleties of the tactics and understand where your team mates will be. But I like the idea of knowing that if I require some quick scoring I can indeed do what the coaches always tell you and play it down the corridor as it's the quickest way home!

5. Yes some of the defensive player behaviour has been dubious to say the least. We want to address it.

6. Won't be posting a pic of myself but you can check out IR Gurus offices on the ign.com.au site. They did a story on our company a while back and there are some photos of the AFL area in particular (look for some Hawthorn jumpers on the wall as that's where I sit). Just search for IR Gurus and you should find it.

7. The dev team know of you. Don't worry, we listen! :)

8. It's ok. I know what you try to get across here.

What Is your job at IR Gurus FH?

And How many is there working on this game atm?

Ok...

Sorry for the bother mate, just checking whether you'd read it or not.

Something I really want to get across it it's just too quick and easy to get the ball up the ground.

That makes me feel pretty funny when you said "the dev team know you" :) awwww shucks... XD

Hey dev team, you're awesome! Keep the little aussie companys alive!

Anyway, I'm really excited for how this game is going, mate you guys have really turned it around since you came to the site. I'd prefer an Aussie company making the game than some international giant anyday (EA refuse to do it anyway because it will only sell here).

The Fremantle 2007 pics are up if you don't already know.

Another thing, please fix the team selection layout of 2006. 2005's was much better. Also the way you could compare player stats and heights in 2005 to know which sort of player to use...

Cheers mate

MG

P.S Can't stress it enough. I appreciate it so much that someone from IR Gurus is actually there to talk to. It makes us feel so much better about the game (and optimistic! :))

P.P.S Any news on possible RRP?

MG

Although I haven't followed all of this thread. I know the most important thing in a sports game in generally statistics as well as the enjoyment of the game. :)

Send him to a Melbourne Victory match at the Telstra Dome, itis the loudest noise you have ever heard when they kick a goal or even get close.

But the sound thing is a definete in improving the gameplay.

Yep, I reckon so. Would be a kind of a funny feeling, knowing that the sound came from a completely different code :)

The more I think about it, the more I think getting the crowd noise right would be a very significant improvement- I'n guessing it would be cheaper in terms of development time than major graphic advances, it ties nicely into gameplay issues, and imo its absolutely fundamental to getting the 'feel' of a genuine game of football.

Anyway, I'll stop repeating myself now, FH, apologies for the lengthy earlier post, I hope you had a chance to glance over it.
