Interesting Sam Edmund, carlton supporter, suggests you don't pay pick 7 for a halfback flanker.

Given, JUH is a lock for an early bid in the draft and possibilities of Braeden Campbell getting an early bid before 7 and/or Joe Daniher triggering a band one compo, leaves that pick at 8, at least and a possibility for it to be pick 10.

carlton Pick 10 2017 draft = Lochie O'Brien, halfback flanker
O’Brien is a midfielder.

Barrett doesn't say who put them on the table, regardless if dow left I'd want Saad + something

Carlton would get something back obviously if it were me Carlton can keep pick 7 and do a Curnow/Saad swap

We get a fwd to replace Joe
Carlton get a HBF that will create run and carry

win/win imo

Holy moly. A Saad/Curnow swap would not be anywhere near a "win" for Carlton.

Curnow is worth 3.9 Saads!

Carlton does have form did with it Jack Martin.

No club or player will want to deal with Carlton anymore if the only way to get there is via the psd

It's scummy business threatening the psd
Lol. Clearly this approach with Martin had a massive negative impact on our attractiveness for this trade period. Maybe Essendon should not have bad mouthed a departing player, only motivating him to accept being walked to the PSD.

First-round compensation is a huge result for the Bombers and list manager Adrian Dodoro who would have picks No. 6 and No. 7 (compensation selection) and Carlton’s first-round choice for Adam Saad.

The Bombers are adamant Saad, who has been a top-three player at Essendon in recent seasons, commands a first-round pick.

But Carlton may ask for a later pick back from Essendon to smooth out the deal.

With three first-round picks in hand, Essendon would be in a strong position to hand one of them back to Western Bulldogs for gun clearance-winner Josh Dunkley in a trade.

Bitter rivals Carlton and Essendon will dig in for a fortnight of tough negotiations on Adam Saaddespite the Blues’ willingness to include their No. 7 selection in a trade.

Essendon’s initial ambit claim for Saad included a wish list of stars including Sam Walsh or Charlie Curnow, but now believes he is worthy of a straight swap for that prized early selection.

Carlton is willing to use that selection but would want a later draft pick back given the high worth of a top-10 pick.

Carlton is aware it could attempt to secure Saad in the pre-season draft for nothing by putting an astronomical price on his head in the first year of his deal but it would be a last resort.

It could also attempt to split that pick No. 7 by trading it to a club like Geelong for pick 11 and 18 and hand No. 11 to the Dons.

But Essendon is adamant it needs that top-10 selection.

Jeez wouldn’t have even imagined a player like Saad leaving could actually turn into a positive. A top ten pick, that we could turn into Dunkley? Would be awesome.

I'm curious about this statement from Carlton fans. Where has the club ever talked poorly of Saad? This is just clickbait for the suckers wanting to believe everything written as gospel.

When? If you're talking about the SEN interview he never said anything like it. It's just bullshit speculation. The chairman has come and spoken well of him.
🤦🏽‍♂️ He accused saad of leaving for more money and not playing for the team. Hurt the dons negotiations. If you are making a play for dunkley then you can’t afford to mess around with a Ooc player in saad. Late first rounder is right. I’d take the sos/ journos talk with a grain of salt. I’m sure the deal will be done fairly quick.
