The world is fine ... oh you mean the people on it!!!Whoa, I didn't know all that!
The world is stuffed![]()
Not to mention the world’s inaction to protect Ukraine empowering them to look towards Taiwan. They have been annoying their neighbours for quite a few years. And by annoy, I mean their navy has been actively sinking Vietnamese and Filipino fishing vessels in "disputed" waters, around atols and islands China wants to claim as their own. Their army regularly runs live fire training exercises across the Vietnamese border, in the mountainous region between the two countries. Trust me, Vietnam and China are not friends. They do the same in the Himalayas, on the Indian border, where there has been a number of clashes between both armies.
China dammed the Mekong river for hydro, that negatively effects the rest of southeast asia. They're going to do the same with the Yarlung Tsangpo (Brahmaputra) River in the Himalayas, which will impact India and Bangladesh, which rely on the Brahmaputra for agriculture, hydropower, and drinking water.
And China is active in trying to buy off most of the pacific island nations.
China is no longer asleep. It's not out stomping it's neighbours just yet, but year on year they become more bold in what they try and get away with, continually pushing boundaries, as no nation actively hits back.
Quick check that you realise that that is precisely the thinking from the Russian perspective that led to the SMO with NATO as the dictatorial element, the Minsk agreement as the useless piece of paper and the ukraine as the Sudetenland yes?
And to make it all even more senseless, some of the recent polls (as unreliable as they are) are showing an increasing popularity of Trump and his policies. Albeit from a very low base but with all that is happening and the financial market assessment, it is gobsmacking.
I must admit I've always thought it's a bit of an oddity of American politics that they put all their eggs into the basket of trying to be the president. And then if they lose they just sort of fade away to nothing. Like, Hillary Clinton didn't stick around to be "opposition leader" after 2016, just as Trump didn't after 2020 and Kamala Harris now. To me it's no surprise they lack direction; there doesn't seem to be any real hierarchy of anybody really in a position to provide that direction. They are hovering around the high 40% mark which is actually historically low for a new President at this point in his term. Usually newly elected Presidents are often in the 50-60% with some in the 70's so it's not great. It's high for him - just not many others.
More worrying is the piss poor showing of the Dems in those polls. Clearly the left leaning voters are seething at thier lack of fight - and the capitulation on the budget prelim bill reinforces it - against Trump and his policies.
I can't understand it personally. They have zero to gain hiding away and going quietly into the night. They need to grow some balls very quickly, find out what they stand for and oppose oppose and oppose. Right now they don't look like they have a clue let alone look like an alternative.

Trump and his Tech Handlers are dismantling the role of Congress and concentrating power to the Oval Office and a select few.
Meanwhile Russia and China sit back and laugh.
The problem is that it favours the pollies and the companies to have the US system. There is no reason for any that can change it to change it.China saw the corporate influence in politics issue a mile off and nipped it in the bud. Old Jack Ma had to go through some re-education. They didn’t want all these tech and other corporate billionaires controlling commerce in China and in-turn gaining enough influence to start bullying the government. It’s why chinas tech sector has gone quiet and is only starting to re-emerge now.
China and the US are at the extreme opposite ends on this issue, the answer is somewhere in the middle. You don’t want to have a system that either country has.
Also Big Beef. Now you have big Pharma AND big Tech in Trumps ear telling him to penalize Australia and apply selective tariffs to punish us for our domestic policies... We are the new Canada.
Let's see if we have the balls they do to stand up to him and retaliate.
One things for certain, Dutton would rather gobble him than stand up to him.
It must be terrifying to be an American right now. Their President is just doing whatever he wants, whether it is legal or not. Whether you agree with his policies and politics or not shouldn't matter. He and his party are trying to impeach judges for holding up the law because it isn't what they want. It's insanity over there. I was strongly against people comparing him to Hitler last time he was president but some his moves this term have been right out of Hitlers' playbook and worse than that we are like 2 months in.
Worse than that, they are deporting people to El Salvador, after paying $6m to keep them in a prison. The prison is arguably the worst prison in the world. It is a death sentence for everyone going there. I am against illegal immigration but they DO NOT deserve to go to a prison like CECOT. These people deported to this prison, not to their actual homeland, the majority of which are unlikely to be hardened gang members and criminals will be not only lucky to make it out alive, but lucky to make it out ever. They will be beaten and r*ped consistently I'm sure. This is a prison with constant human rights violations. IT IS INDEFENSIBLE. Then add to that, Trump praises Nayib Bukele for his inhumane practices. For me this is the worst thing Trump and his administration has done. Deporting is one thing, but to send them to one of the most dangerous prisons in the world? Where by all reports the inmates run the asylum? Unconscionable

The Dems had a “strategy” of letting Trump do what he wants and then let hell rain down on their country. They then ride over the hill like the cavalry, sweep the mid term elections and regain some control. Then springboard to the presidency on a “Clean up this freakin mess” platform. That was fine when he was just a greedy idiot. Now he’s a greedy idiot surrounded by clever people with a dangerous agenda. Dems need to reassess very quickly.
If you had said that before this shit show started, people of reasonable intelligence would have branded you a conspiracy idiot. Now I suspect it is a possible outcome. One just has to hope that the judiciary and the congress will be able to halt this when it simply becomes too crazy. Just not sure where that line is yet.Trump wants civil unrest so he can declare martial law and avoid elections.
