Hope the Dees continue to plummet, otherwise 1-6 is a real possibility looking at the fixture. Dogs, Blues, Swans and two trips to Adelaide
What a dog shit start. Would be nice to give us some teams around us early on to try and build some confidence. Ah well, campaigners better be ready to come out breathing fire regardless

I guess the upside is if we do start well we'll know that it's real.

We generally drop our pants and assume the position when playing Footscray, so we'll get an early indication.

Having our preferred KPD set up will at least allow us to compete with more confidence.

Indeed. That and better defensive set ups over the field when we haven't got the pill.

We've tended to stand around and watch. I've been tempted to take out beers for the lads just so they get the full spectator experience.

I’m optimistic

Vs Dogs - unlikely to win BUT round 1 ambush not out of the question. 20% chance to win.

Vs Dees - if we are improving as a team this is a must win. Dee’s rarely play at marvel. No Pickett. Monads to worry about. Trac and Oliver just getting g back into it. Xerri to neutralise Gawn. 75% chance of a win.

Vs Crows - realistically hard to see us win at Adelaide oval. 10% chance of a win.

Vs swans - I don’t give a ****. We win this game and break the curse. They aren’t even that good. Parker with the expert knowledge. 75% chance of a win.

Vs Gold Coast - they don’t win away from home. And won’t win in the Barossa. 90% chance of a win.

Vs Carlton - assuming we go in with a healthy lineup and a full complement of defenders, it’s a 50/50 game.

3-3 after 6 imo

It’ll put us on the back foot. LDU is just desperate to see wins on the board. It’s the only thing stopping him from committing right now.
If you think he won't be able to handle the pressure of changing clubs on a big contract Were does that leave him. There is no doubt what so ever he will sigh with us like i said about 8 months ago regardless of if we are 6 and zero.

LDU not being able to handle the pressure/spotlight that comes with a big contract at a big club is just a personal opinion. I don’t think that sort of thing would even come into consideration for him.

Dogs - unlikely. Can't really recall we lost to a team by 100 and beat them 6 months later. I remember we beat Carlton by 124 in the last game of 2003 and then early 2004 won by a kick on the siren by Wells.

Dees - I think this is the most likely chance, along with GC. They are a soft team despite their talent.

Crows - not over there

Swans - forget it. We are their grand final.

Gold Coast - Win.

Carlton - probably not. Umps will just bail them out like they have the last few times

So I'd have us at 2-4.

Not sure how this sort of talk has made it into the LDU thread, but it's pre season so who cares. There're definitely a couple of iffy trends that will surface in the first six weeks that I'd dearly love to reverse.

vs. Crom: we've never won at Adelaide Oval. Mental given that it started hosting games in 2012. Don't think we're much chance of reversing it, we're just so shit there

vs. Sydney at Docklands: Absolute barrage of perversely cruel results since that bullshit draw. You'd think karma would've swung the other way, but nope. Off the top of my head, 1 point loss after kicking 9.17, loss by less than a goal after Aliir puts them ahead, and 2023. Think we're a decent chance of exorcising this hoodoo and it's the one I'd most love to win

vs. Carlton: Just the umpires. Last three or four match-ups, they've given us absolutely nothing. Some balanced adjudication would be nice for once. Not asking for a world-beating Messianic umpiring performance, just a fulfilment of the expectation of competence, please and thank you

Mate Carlton are over rated as chicken twisties. Lost the last game against them by 19 points and should have won. And we’ll be much better than that

Tbf we got within 3 goals when we played them last and they had to desperately keep TDK on the ground. Not to mention McKay.

They are gettable in 2025. Teams have easily worked them out.

And the number of missed opportunities and strange umpiring decisions. Larkey got caught high 2 times in quick succession, and I’m talking bending down to pick up the footy. No free. It wizzes down the other end for a soft free against Kerch. Infact the law of averages would expect us to get 2 umpired games in our favour next year. We’ve been destroyed by the umps against the blues.

The umpiring is always dreadful when we play Carlton. Can't do anything about the crowd intimidating the umps.

What we can do is outwork them around the contest and make them second-guess. Win the clearances against this mob and they will crack.

Carlton not getting Houston is gonna hurt them. They don't have the best ball-users behind the footy.

This.

I guarantee he signs on before the season starts.
I wonder if the club has said to his manager, the distractions could impact performance and the team. If luke wants to stay, lets work out a deal.

We know what media is like, they’ll chase Ldu down the street with a mic in his face. They’ll be relentless

That’s highly optimistic. Carlton will be far too strong, plus the umps will be eating from Curnows hand.
