dis ****ed.

The only good thing about it is the whole "do it for Windy" thing we can get going on for the next 2 months, but ****, one of my favourite players. I still maintain he could have been anything if his body held up - I used to describe him as Judd like the way he could bend his back. BigFooty flogs laughed me, but the guy is a footballing genius

Nick Malceski is a free agent who's put contract talks on hold.
I knew you'd get my hint. :D

Pure speculation but Winders was on around the 350 mark. That is a decent chunk to have suddenly free and as a clubman it wouldn't surprise me if this is his last sacrifice for the club.

Malceski

Will probably be reunited with Paul Roos at Melbourne just like Chappy did with Bomber.
People keep saying that and while it sounds ok it is a very simple and neat idea and reeks of lazy journalism. Malceski is ultra competitive and it doesn't sit with me that he'll suddenly be happy having his ass handed to him on a plate.

Roos has been asked about it on 360 a couple of weeks running now and his answers (or lack thereof) certainly left me with the impression they'd be talking to him. Taking your point about his competitive nature on board, wouldn't it follow that Melbourne might be exactly the challenge that would appeal to him?

That would surprise me tbh, but however it's come about, it does leave us in an interesting position cap-wise. Licha and Jetta out means we're probably just one mediocre player away from freeing up enough to poach a genuine star. By that I mean I'm expecting a trade out of some description this year (be it Pears, or a ballsier trade like Melksham or Bellchambers) and that would leave us in a really powerful position to hit the draft hard and also improve on-field immediately.

Damn great player and great bloke as well.

What are our Draft penalties next year? Maybe this means Fletcher will more than likely play next season due to our limited ability to add players to our list?

Not if he wants to experience further success. Sure somone who has more then 2-3 years left might look at Melbourne as a challenge but he goes there and he knows he will never contend again.

Will turn out to be the correct decision for both parties in my opinion.

Thanks for everything Jason.
