Interesting. Those Americans I’ve met (mostly from travelling through SE Asia) have mostly been fantastic worldly people who as an Aussie I’ve felt a real kinship with. As my late grandmother used to tell me - if it wasn’t for the Americans we’d all be speaking Japanese.
Before I started out travelling in the 90s we were always warned about the loudmouth yanks but in my experience the Americans were great people, it was the loudmouth Brits who still believed Britannia ruled the waves. Very obnoxious. Obviously you get idiots from everywhere, just depends on time and chance.
Agree, I've found Americans wonderful travellers in many different contexts. This has resulted in numerous ongoing friendships and visits to each others home territories over the years. Maybe it's because these are the types to actually step outside of their home comfort zones in the first place? But even on their own turf I've found most Americans to be really friendly and inquisitive about my life.

We made the mistake of joining a tour group for a few weeks in the middle east and Africa last year, made up mainly of Aussies. I'd safely say that at least half were f*n unbearable, entitled, whiny twats who probably should've just gone to Bali or Phuket again. No sense of the intrepid or respect for local cultures, languages and customs whatsoever.

And don't get me started on the friggin Russians.

While still resident in the UK, one year I saved up my annual leave for a month in New Zealand. I flew via the US and stopped over for a few days to see Washington DC.

When it came to catch my onward flight to NZ I was a little late to the airport and, panicking slightly, couldn’t find my way to the international terminal. I stopped to ask someone (who was work in in some capacity at the airport) where the international terminal was, and he asked me where I was headed.

“Auckland”, I told him.

“Oh, you want the domestic terminal then. California.”

“No,” I explained. “Auckland”, emphasising the ‘ork’ at the start.

He looked at me blankly. “Never heard of it.”
He probably thought you meant the planet Ork.

I can say the same about Aussies and Kiwis I've encountered in my journeys around the world and here on the rock. I think most people who make a trip that's more than a quick week or two come away with an inkling of the diversity of the Earth. And hopefully that led to more global awareness later back at home.
The Ugly Americans I've run into abroad have usually been on the more beaten paths and they didn't have the self-consciousness to not speak out their arrogance and ignorance. It all really comes down to basic politeness.
Conversely back in the 90s, I came across an American housewife, in curlers and one of those heavy bathrobe kind of things. She looked right out of the 50s. And there she was in a Taipei suburb getting breakfast from one of the ubiquitous food carts along most roads here. She had integrated well. :laughv1:

Biden has been in office the entire time that the genocide has been going on. He has gone out of his way to send enormous amounts of weapons to the Israelis to ensure this has happened.

Trump’s team had involvement in the current negotiations. Let’s hope the reports of a deal are correct. This is the main change between this and previous negotiations.

I don’t think Trump cares about Palestinian lives, but if he put his foot down for the sake of appearance that’s still a positive outcome. Biden didn’t think he appeared poor for the past 15 months.

Alternatively, let’s speculate and give Trump the worst possible story. Nixon in 1968 sabotaged Vietnam peace talks and Reagan in 1980 orchestrated an underhanded delay in the hostage release to assist them in winning the election and having the triumph for themselves. Let’s say Trump did the same with Netanyahu and had him wait until now to agree to a ceasefire to make Trump look better.

The outcome of that is Trump is a monster, which isn’t surprising, and that Biden (also known to be a monster following his continued feeding of the weapons of genocide) fell into a trap that’s hurt his party irrevocably as Trump can now claim the credit.

So Biden facilitated a genocide and potentially allowed Trump to come into office with the narrative of stopping his genocide. The harm Biden’s done for the side of politics you and I are more sympathetic to is immense. So yes, shooting him into the sun seems a fair punishment for the trail of dead children and ideology he’s left behind him.
Honestly that just spreads the gap, for me.

It's like blandly restating idioms like 'democracy dies in darkness'. And going on to point out that the guy smashing the lightbulbs is better, because 'at least it's obvious'.

Biden should die, because of Israel? That's your actual position?
The facilitation of empowering Israel extremism under Trump with his son in law, purely for profiteering... Not worth mentioning.

But Biden should be killed in 5 days, because of what he wasn't able to stop.

Drag Queen Story Hour is a good initiative.

Keep those strawmen cumming.
I have no axe to grind against drag queens reading stories to kids but I do have to ask, what is the great imperative?

(Maybe I’m a bit out of the loop. Do we have Story Time read by a judo instructor? By a chicken sexer? An alphorn player? Dental hygienist? An exponent of Calcio storico fiorentino? Helicopter customiser?)

It’s not that Biden was unable to stop it, it’s that he was unwilling to.

Do I literally think Biden should be blasted into the sun? I think the answer probably lies in the logistics of that. He’ll be lucky to live for five more months naturally, at which point I’d be content for every living Palestinian to piss on his grave.

Yes, Trump’s history of empowering Israeli extremism is worth mentioning to people who would vote for him (or his Republican replacement) because of this. Maybe it will convince them not to vote for him, but if he can end the genocide with a relative ease that Biden did not do then it won’t bring them back to whoever replaces him. And given his party is currently in dire straits, it’s something they can ill afford.

When my kids were growing up, they loved Harry Potter and they used to organise Harry Potter days at school.
But Harry Potter uses magic and there were calls from a few people to have it banned.

Think.

Biden launched into the sun.
Trump, well it's worth thinking about during a democratic process... That Trump opposes...

It normalises the idea that masculinity and femininity are outdated goals, that don't need to be reached to give you value.

Its also a continuation of pantomime as entertainment from before you or I were even born.

There is religious people doing story times all over the place. It's much more prevalent than drag queens.

You probably grew up watching some guy dressed as a bear miming stories with no pants.

I think that was called "1.5 hours, 3 times a week, in the music room". In the public school I went to as a child.

My parents didn't even know...

I went to school in the morning as a 'non-practicing' Christian, and without informing my parents I was surgically changed into a 'practicing' Christian...

Woke mind virus stuff. Parents should have a choice, right?

When Donald Dumph talked about the size of Arnold Palmer's genitalia as a measure of his masculinity, Palmer's own daughter told Dumph that he was a stupid campaigner.
It's clear that Dumph and MAGA have been left behind.

You're a good person.

Your position isn't wrong or impossible to understand.

The fact is that due to you not caring about how people live their lives (which is a good thing) you've not kept up with the insanity of the anti-trans stuff. Because of your acceptance you've been tricked by the overwhelming anti-trans narrative into caring about it.

And it's at the point now, that you're attacked for sharing your opinion, which makes you defiant against being told what and how to think.
Anti-LGBTQ+ is literally designed around this.
Use what seems to be common sense to make rational people feel that they need to take a more solid stance against the 'radical left agenda'.

You're not ignorant, stupid, or anything like that. It's your ability to absorb information and explain it with more clarity, that makes you the perfect target for this.

Trump can be launched into the sun too? I wouldn't have shed a tear if he'd not turned his head when he did.

Save for another weirdo and more relaxed Secret Service, Trump will only be stopped by a democratic process. It's worth discussing what that looks like.

Oh I see, you only like to provide evidence of one side of the argument.
I want to see you do better from now on.

I'm not facilitating a genocide but I should do better and Biden shouldn't be called out for it.

Trump's about to be in power again, improbably. The status quo hasn't worked, why are people vigorously sticking to it?

Here's yet another example of the anti-Christian woke movement exposing our kids to grooming and paedophilia!!!
The use of humour and satire, live on the BBC and the ABC is the main reason we need to cut all funding for public broadcast!

What even is 'monty python'? Why are they put on our screens, into the minds of our children?

"Something completely different" This is clearly calling for the destruction of the nuclear family unit!

When's the last time he did that?

Why would you think the 2nd term of Trump would be better??

Trump can be launched into the sun too?

Biden, yes.
Trump?

The global instability and unrest from Trump's 1st administration. Democracy?
Biden not doing enough during a time where even people like you are uneducated on what's actually happening? Kill Biden.

So can you expand on what you find more important?
The Israel genocide in Gaza, or Biden?
