Just a reminder, even if it hasn't come up for a few pages and y'all should know this stuff by now:

This thread is not about Covid, lockdowns, or vaccines. It is about Donald Trump. While Trump was in office during the pandemic and his response to Covid is relevant, there are pertinent threads for you to post your opinions on those things in.

It might also do with reminding a few that when you post on the SRP, you are responsible for backing up/verifying your claims to fact. Do not post conspiracy theories on this forum. We have an entire other forum for that.

Thanks all.

Exactly.

At least in America you get the choice not to vote, in Australia you have to pick someone, even if you don't like the candidates, at least outside of just doing a donkey vote via the classic drawing of a schlong on the form.

I think a lot of Aussies will be perplexed about ultimately voting for Albo or Dutton, same as Harris & Trump.
No one forces you to vote in Australia. They just require you to turn up to the polling station to cross your name off (or return a postal vote). You don’t even need to go to the effort of “the drawing of a schlong” if that requires a bit of effort.

Yep that's also true.

It becomes easier if they understand cause and effect of bad things that happen, and look at the track records of the parties (unfortunately closer these days).

At least here we can vote for someone else before preferencing Albo over Dutton (well, the parties), pity that isn't the case with Dems over a party of traitors. Not voting helps the worse outcome occur.

unfortunately, the far majority of people would not bother to look deeper than face value when ticking the box.

i mean i obviously can't tell you what employees earn or what their visa split is as i don't work there but based on what google tells me the AVG tesla wage is pretty decent and seems to be pretty far above the avg american salary, and if a fair chunk of his workforce (60% total non-white, 35% of leadership non-white it would appear that regardless he is paying them pretty well?

nothing i have read alludes to the fact Elon is luring people in on these H1B visas, and then underpaying people en masse.

H1B visas are typically for skilled immigrants? Not the type of people who are putting batteries in phones in some sweatshop.

The fact that you can’t punctuate or write proper English when you post online, I reckon that’s reason enough for you to get deported.

is there any need for personal attacks?

it's a football forum guy...

Yep... it's a fascist model. Conservatives who support Trump are no longer supporting their own ideology... because fascism is not the same as conservatism.

Nazism is not the point... fascism is the point. Whether the fascism takes hold and replaces democracy, and what the oligarchs do with their new popular fascism is still up for grabs.

Trump isn’t a full-on fascist like Hitler, but there’s certainly enough he’s espoused to suggest similarities. Hitler wasn’t fully fascist initially either, there was a lot of populist rhetoric used to mask his rise to power.

Few subs on Reddit I follow have banned Twitter posts.

Be great if bigfooty followed suit.
Why?

Twitter is simply a medium, albeit owned by an self obsessed, power hungry, borderline psychopath who places his personal wealth way above values of honesty, truth, justice and commitment to a cohesive and equitable society. But such personalities have dominated the mass media market for centuries, even today.

While it's true that the content and misinformation bias of the twitter platform has shifted substantially since its acquisition by Musk, the same can be said of all large scale social and mainstream media platforms. And it's still relatively easy to filter out the crap by limiting those you follow and who follow you to respected individuals and organisations.

Twitter is still used by the vast majority of respected news outlets, journalists, scientists, environmental and social scientists, economists and other professional organisations as it represents the fastest way to broadcast and connect to links and summaries to reports, studies and opinions that have the capacity to change our life on this planet for good. Until there's a more equitable and more widely used platform available it still has a vital role to play.

I'm all in favour of banning, divisive, inflammatory, hateful or deliberately false content - not the medium upon which it's broadcast (edit: unless of course, the main purpose of that platform is to host and broadcast such content - which is not anywhere close to what 'X' is about, for now at least).

If the owner/moderators of BF or any other social media platform 'bans' twitter posts simply because of who owns it they would have missed the point and lost the war.

You’re supporting Trump, who likes to deport downtrodden people. At least my deportation policy would have some merit.

I'm not sure what the matter is with you, but we're on a political forum by the way, and you're talking about a football forum now. Context and nuance are not your strong suit either.

I think donny and his fans forget that his present wife worked in the US illegally when she was there on a tourist visa, so she should be deported under the new rules donny wants to bring in.

Mainly because it's usually low effort, poor quality content. If I found Titus O'Reilly funny or cared what thought Rohan Connelly found pertinent to share with the universe, I'd log onto Twitter and look at it myself.

As far as news sources go, there's alternatives that aren't run by a fascist.

Edit: Dayne Swan the other one whose tweets here come up a lot. Guys a ****ing moron.

Let's not forget that Trump's grandfather, skipped out on military duty and if he had entered the US today, he would have been turned back at the border and deported back to Germany.

And then a country gets the government it deserves.

There are many weaknesses in the various models of democratic government around the world, but one is the failure of the population to properly engage.

We are both too hard and too soft on our elected officials. Too hard when we have unrealistic expectations on what they can fix in too short time frames, which results in them stopping trying to fix them over realistic time frames and instead pandering to the short term election cycle. And too soft on the behaviours that then arise from pandering to short term election cycles.

Something else donny's fans don't want to discuss and also not a single member of the donny blood relatives has served in the US military

First broken promise that he'd end the Ukraine war on day 1. What a clown.
Dude he’s not the kind of president that follows through does things. It’s more like he says a thing or makes a gesture through executive order and we all clap like idiots at how the lefties have been owned and forget all about it the next day.
