Unleashed Deepseek free AI model.
Leading a few to question why all the US tech bros need 100s of billions and coming to the conclusion that they'll most likely make out like bandits.
Apparently great if you don't want to know anything about the Tiananmen Square Massacre.

Is that all that important if you're aware of the biases in the first place? I wouldn't take Musk's AI with any less pinches of salt, the takeaway seems to be the cost of developing it.

DeepSeek is that good it can give you a whole set of Wisdens.
Autographed with a Grateful Dead soundtrack.

Why would you even bother asking AI to parrot text about historical events?

Waste of computing power when it's been well documented by historians. Easily accessible via google, wikipedia etc.

I only get my information from AI now.

But seriously, the DeepSeek response to these sorts of questions makes it look like they have a ton of slaves looking for questions about topics sensitive to the CCP and manually overriding the response.

That's a pretty interesting observation! It does seem like DeepSeek is heavily curated when it comes to topics sensitive to the Chinese government. While it's unlikely they have "slaves" manually overriding responses, the AI might be programmed with strict guidelines to avoid or redirect conversations on these topics. This could involve a combination of automated filters and human oversight to ensure compliance with censorship laws in China. The way DeepSeek handles these queries raises questions about the balance between AI capabilities and political control, especially in countries with strict internet regulations. It's a reminder of how AI can be shaped by the political and cultural context in which it's developed.

Did you get ChatGPT to write that? :D

Given lots of "AI" projects end up having a ton of low-paid call centre workers on hand to take over and do the job the AI system should be doing, when DeepSeek starts answering Tiananmen Square massacre questions only to stop part way through and display a generic "let's talk about something else" message it reeks of a similar system.
