Guys I am absolutely serious about this.

If Arch's "suspension" is upheld, we gather at AFL HQ in our North gear and we call the TV stations and Fox Footy and we get them to come down and interview us.

No pitch forks or torches, but we're bloody angry.

This is as WRONG AS IT GETS. We can't allow this to be confirmed and go without a reaction from our supporters. We spread the word on Facebook and get thousands down there if we have to.

I'm NOT joking. Please join me. I'll go by myself if I have to.

The following night, 530pm, after the tribunal and only IF they CONFIRM the suspension.

Only in North Melbourne lore would a player wearing our colours break another footballers leg sliding in, and subsequently be the reason for the creation of a rule protecting the player who is being slid into

Only for many years to have the player being slid into be given a three match suspension because the slider went head first rather than feet first ... And the player being slid into is wearing NM colours

Absolutely exceptional
You forgot where * got 2 free kicks for diving on the ball in the 2014 final taking out NMFC players legs and from memory, I think Greenwood might have also been reported by the umpire on the night in one of those incidents.

LT's momentum and 2nd step attempting to move towards his own goal is what took out Rohan. A player could step on someone's ankle/lower leg in a stoppage with no slide.

Archer would have been expecting a player to slow and bend to pick up the ground ball, meaning even if he was 2nd to the contest, he would be tackling a bloke upright (if not side on), or smothering any attempt to get rid of the pill.

Archer would have probably avoided the bloke if he dived and slapped the ball away, or kicked it off the deck from an upright position.

Diving head on to the ball to take possession was only going to result in a free kick against for a player with someone on his hammer, or a more dangerous collision.

Thanks to the dive, Archer may have a busted leg from concussing our own player instead.

I hope Archer cleared, obviously, but Ryan Bastinac makes a decent point here:

4 on 1? Sheezel standing back waiting for the ball to spill, whoever is right of screen not chasing, and Konstanty about to tackle.
He was 2nd Roo at worst, and the whole gameplan on the night was multiple tacklers. Also he was the only player ahead of the contest if Cleary came up with it.

Also, can we stop defending Archer by blaming Cleary?

It was a freak of an accident that happens a couple times a year, and it's possible for someone to get injured without it being anyones fault.

Watching back the replay, he was excellent.

Does all the 1%ers and can hit bullet kicks (Larkey you idiot). He was also intercepting and saving our arses when a loose footy got within a dangerous position for the Dogs. Frustratingly, the source was from a errant kick by his team-mates.

I hope he gets off. Doesn't deserve to be suspended.
There was one moment. Gee a lot of players had a moment didn’t they? The ball that could have been raffled between him and tucker. He needed to grab that ball.. resulted in a score against too.

  • Arch not grabbing that ball and handballing it out.
  • Colbys chest mark
  • jys kicking
  • comben clean bowled
  • cams shots on goal
  • Luke McDonald dumb 50
  • Corr handballing it straight to the opposition
  • midfielders not working hard enough defensively

Just too many to mention and the same ol mistakes from senior players.

It’ll come down to if Arch entered the contest in a reckless manner.

I think Arch was entitled to think that Cleary would keep his feet therefore he would be tackling/pressuring Cleary. Cleary going to ground starts the unfortunate chain of events that leads to the missed free kick to Arch and Cleary getting concussed.

Should be relatively easy to argue this point, reckon he gets off.

The whole duty of care/ he didn't try to slow down drivel coming from some quarters defies evidence. Every single screen shot shows Arch's centre of gravity transferring back as he tries to pull up. The last shot is the most telling, there was nothing he could do whilst he tries to cushion the blow. Only in the wonderful world of the ATO could they give this a 3 game suspension. It has nothing to do with Archer, it is all about AFL optics being seen trying to 'prevent' concussion. -

Open and shut case Johnson.

Nice work.

Is it me or the lack of remonstration towards Archer by any Dogs player at all volumes for what the players thought of the incident? You knock a guy out in a reportable offence his whole team would be flying the flag, instead everyone looked at it and thought it was just something that happens unfortunately.

The bloke dove forward ...... in whatever flawed attempt he's making to get the ball. The error is clearly Clearys. To say stand off, slow down, wait for the ball to come out, wait for Cleary to be tackled etc etc earns Archer a roast for not attacking the ball, the contest etc etc. Archer is going at the pace he is as it's a loose ball and has every right to try to get there 1st. The fault is with Cleary.

Everyone was probably rooted by the heat by that stage.

I would of thought this is and easy one at tribunal.

You freeze frame it and the second he dives to the ground you can see the very next motion (i.e. next foot on the ground) archer is pulling up. Archer did everything he could, and likely why there is no structural damage to the player.

I'm intruding and hope Archer gets off, mainly because the AFL have painted themselves into a corner with the absolute shit "contact below the knees rule". Tribunal should look at this for 5 seconds, come to the conclusion that Archer should've got a free kick, and throw the case out.
What's your charge out rate?

I 100% agree. Was looking for a holding on free IMO to the detriment of his own safety and that of Archer's. Being stupid should not be rewarded.

DarkPhoenix is absolutely right.

Cleary was running at full tilt himself and picking up a ground ball while under pressure from behind.

We've watched our supposedly AFL level footballers repeatedly fall over under considerably less pressure and at less speed for the past half a decade, but this no name Bulldog with what? 20 games experience? should've been able to pick up the ball at pace like prime GAJ and just continue on? Particularly late in the game in those conditions - he was probably fairly spent.

Archer had every right to attack the contest. Cleary fell over in the process of gaining possession and there was no way for Arch to suddenly not collide in the way he did. It was a footy accident, that's all.

Edit - cleary has played 8 games of AFL level footy, so not even half of 20.

I think most realised it was just a footy collision. Which is why Archer shouldn't be suspended, and we shouldn't repeatedly at ad nauseum try to pin it on the bulldogs player for ducking "trying to win a free kick". He fell over while trying to gain possession near the end of only his eighth game at the level played in the heat and at a decent pace. We've watched our much more experienced players fall over under much less pressure in much more ideal conditions.
