It is not ******* hard. If his appeal against a cheating conviction fails, then he is not eligible to keep the Brownlow Medal he was awarded during the period in question.

It doesn't get any more simple. It is not like they are ending his career by taking it away.

Hardest decision my arse.

But they are scared that Jab will turn around and sure the efc/afl for loss of earnings/reputation for being stripped of the medal. After all both the efc/afl have claimed that Jab is a victim throughout the saga in an attempt to get him off. The bullshit campaign is going to bite them on the arse big time!!!

The AFL can't be sue by stripping him of the medal that he won through cheating. He has been convicted of the crime. Essendon however can be sued for their part in the supplements program. And that would basically end his career.

But wait a minute Gil, you couldn't wait to offer Jarrad Tallent the opportunity to have his Gold Medal presented to him on Grand Final Day.

You know Mr McLachlan, thats the Gold Medal that was originally won by the Russian Sergey Kirdyapkin but was stripped off him after he was convicted for taking an illegal substance.

That's right only Bulgarian Weightlifters, Chinese Swimmers and Russian athletes cheat, Gil.

Seriously Australian Football administrations take salary cap rorting more seriously than drug taking - it's a disgrace.

Essendon saga: Here's how much the supplements scandal has cost ... so far

http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-ne...scandal-has-cost--so-far-20160503-gol90t.html

James Hird's latest defeat in court – this time being slugged with a bill for $660,000 – is another chapter in a saga that could eventually cost more than $35 million.

Well the AFL could have saved $1.5 million, but not artificially changing the rules to allow Essendon to top up with Senior Players.

That's a disgrace in itself and a further disgrace by Essendon in contracting 2 former players convicted of taking drugs (Stokes and Crowley).

"But ... to perform my function as chief executive in the lead-up and during, I need to have conversations which would mean that I don't necessarily look like I come in with clean hands."

No Gil believe me, you look a LOT worse than that to the majority of australian punters that follow AFL.........

When has ANYONE associated with the efc taken any type of responsibility during this saga ??? Why would Jab start now .....
They have been actively encouraged by the AFL not to take responsibility for their actions. From that phone call from AD to David Evans, right through until the present moment, the AFL have stood behind every act that the Dopers have played out.

But where is the proof????

Nobody got caught as AD tipped them off and the shredders went into overtime.

When our players were getting smashed by the suddenly faster and stronger Bombers we all knew something was wrong, but the AFL acted like keystone kops...

When will the AFL head office take the responsibility to fix their toxic culture?

few gems in that article.

Is there a better pair than Hird and Mark Thompson?

lol.

This year with stronger bodies, the Bombers tackle with intent. At the stoppages, Jobe Watson, Heath Hocking, Brent Stanton, David Zaharakis, Ben Howlett and Sam Lonergan no longer get pushed around.

In the space of 18 months, he has taken many of his players to new levels.

Jake Melksham has benefited from a big weights program

Would be justice if they end up getting a 2 year Wooden spoon drug penalty.

If one of the reasons that the afl didn't want to punish * further was that they were scared that * would lose players after they all walked out then surely they should look to at least strip them of this years draft picks now that they appear to be retaining all of the doped up players. To add a #1 ND kid as a consequence of being punished for doping their players is ridiculous......

AFL teams need a person that's employed by the AFL to oversee and report back to them every week to help prevent cheating or something like that.

Who said they are.

The season isn't over yet!

Regardless of that they will be getting a top 4 pick which is absurd and a disgrace.

The AFL don't have the balls to make the right call and ban them from the first two rounds of the draft for being found GUILTY of doping. They think their previous penalties are enough. What a joke, banning them from finals? LMAO they were never going to win the flag any way so it didn't matter. Banned them from the first two rounds in 13 and 14? Well that's fine and dandy but then they ALLOWED them to trade for picks in the first 2 rounds. So in 2013 they had pick #26 and 2014 pick #17. So basically they could offload disgruntled players that they knew were going to be banned anyway.

Honestly, (and speaking in terms of on-field success) the Bombers would have suffered more of a penalty if their players didn't get banned because had they not been banned, the Bombers would've finished around 8th-12th and ended up with a later draft pick. Instead, they'll be getting access to the best young talent now and that HELPS their rebuild.

Dont forget the end of 1st rd pp in 2014. Basically got banned from the first rd and then rewarded with a pick upgrade in the second rd .....

Yes. You're right! I had forgotten about that little gem.

Incredible how much the AFL is HELPING the team that has brought upon the most disgrace the game has ever seen.

As far as I'm concerned, they should've suffered more penalties now that they have been found guilty. The right thing to do would be to ensure that they are not aided in any way for their part in this scandal.

Instead, they gave them access to top up players and allow them to keep their early draft picks.

To top it off, stupid brain dead St.Kilda just had to give them pick #5 last year for that imbecile. LOL seriously, your club is in a rebuilding phase, the last thing you should EVER consider is giving up a top 5 pick for a guy who is not going to bring you premiership success. Then the famous snapchat video is released just after the trade is complete. What a coincidence!

The Bombers are seriously the biggest scumbags in the AFL.
