Much prefer the predictability of Boland that makes the batters have to take risks to score against him rather than being unpredictable where they just constantly leak runs from bad balls.

It’s something that holds Starc back. His best is nearly unplayable but his worst is all over the shop.

Look at his last few deliveries compared to his opening spell. Constant pressure would mean a heap more wickets

The unpredictability of Starc might lead to a higher average across a long career but it’s also been part of a strike rate that is among the best in modern cricket. The guy takes wickets at a rate that few bowlers can boast. Any team would pay that price
