Yeah as frustrating as it is that he’s not playing, it’s still a welcome change from the Worsfold years where we would rush back our stars from injury regardless if they were ready.

Any word on how bad Stringers hammy is? Like Langford bad or a 3/4 weeker?
Channel 7 News said that he’s expected to miss another week. If true a bit risky to miss only two. Assume maybe not to bad and being cautious with him

Depends on the grade of severity, 2-3 weeks isn’t unheard of for a minor tear, 8-10 weeks is usually involving the tendon, and then in-between is in-between.

I think if they say it’s a hamstring then I’ll take it at face value. Doesn’t mean he doesn’t also have a groin injury, but I don’t think they’ve invented the hammy out of thin air. You’d be able to tell from watching him train anyway, since the symptoms are different.

I thought even with a minor tear it was minimum 21 days. Can't recall many players coming back after 2 weeks for a hammy.

I take the club at face value as well and don't think they would have invented a hamstring injury, after all they did say he was ready to go for Rd 1 ;)

And here we are at round 5 and still not ready to play. As I have said before, I have no faith in our medical or conditioning staff.

Might not be a tear, could be just sore.

Plenty of players have had soreness and come up in a week or 2.

He was healthy in the bye week before Round 1 and could have played, but he wasn't fit/didn't have match conditioning, other players were available, and as such he wasn't selected in the side. He did match sim instead with the idea being that when he did come in he would be able to impact the game fully for the rest of the year, which would be better for him and for the team overall.

Stringer said that himself in a radio or podcast interview I remember listening to, because last year he came back from injury too quickly (due to necessity with other players also being injured) and it took him ages to get back to 100% while playing every week. He couldn't attend all the CBAs and didn't have the impact he otherwise might have had.

As the context changed with the atrocious performance against Geelong in Round 1, they evidently decided that Stringer was too important structurally even if he couldn't impact the way they'd like him to. The needs of the team outweighed the needs of the individual and they brought him in.

I suppose they could hardly have played worse with him underdone than how they played without him altogether.

I'd be more inclined to believe that they did fix the groin but that weakness in certain muscle groups may have contributed to an awkward gait or posture that made the hamstring issue more likely.

Once you're playing and doing match day recovery, there's less time spent training and in the gym because the body won't cope, so I think that fits better with the information we have than just straight up inventing a hamstring injury.

Could be as little as a Grade 1 Hamstring strain which would curtail his running but not need a length recovery period then build-up.

If it's a tear, then yes, 3 weeks would be the lower end of what I'd expect a player to get back in.

For someone that wasn't moving great before this that he's done it is a bad thing as it means we probably don't get a full match fit stringer until mid year.
