Big compliment by Cornes who is the second best tagger in the last 10 years. Bigger compliment seeing that Cornes did a number on heppell

No matter what, it's a big compliment. Cornes didn't say Heppell was the best player he tagged but was one of the hardest to tag (I'm sure there's a distinction in there somewhere). He pointed to his work rate and smarts around the ball as the key reasons.

You can see when Heppell he is constantly hitting the stoppage on the move which is extremely difficult to stop legally.

Heppell is the endurance beast at EFC - He does it in games.

That's a combination of endurance and plenty of footy smarts, not running to stupid spots like so many do.
Footy smarts Heppell is right up there with the best of them, like Ablett, Pendles, Selwood, ect.

Agree with your post. Some players have a reputation for elite endurance but don't run out seasons - There are many myths in AFL>

As the man himself would say, yeah, nah.

He's still not even the best midfielder in the team.

Hes influence on games is as good as Jobe's. Kicking goals is what lets Heppell down when talking about top echelon of midfielders in the competition.

Don't bet on it, Heppell just finished 4th in the MVP and has improved every year he has played.
Watson will need to improve to keep up with this young fella.

Going by the last two years - Watson's best is a higher level than Heppel's - But Heppell is more consistent. Watson has been disappointing in the last two years.

Injury does that Yaco

Even before Watson got injured in 2014 his form was below his normal standards - Check out at the B and F until Watson got injured against Brisbane - he was off the pace.

Only GAJ can keep his amazingly high standards up year after year. FWIW, Watson averaged 113 before injury, his 2012 Brownlow year he averaged 121. Hardly off the boil.

Influence - Watson's disposal efficiency has been down the last two years. He needs more bang for his buck.

I agree with the general sentiment, but I still reckon Jobe was carrying something early in 2014. Physically he just looked half a step off the pace for the first 6 weeks or so, but half a step off the pace for him is still quality.
