There are. I just think when push comes to shove, there will be retirements/shoves and we'll need to add to our depth like we did in 2022.. one high priced guy is possible, but think a kpd is more likely than a mid.

Yeah you could be right but it may depend on how Allan, McCreery (think midfield transition still on cards)and co come on.

As Mitchell, Pendles and Steele may all hang it up at years end.

Definite possibility, but I think if we need a mid, next year's unwanted veteran, ala Titch, Macrae, etc seems more likely than us lashing out on a prime mid. Who knows though. At the beginning of last year, I wouldn't have predicted us targetting flankers, but our flanks went to shit and it's great that we added quality there. The same could happen next year for any area of the ground.

We can cry about KPP until the end of time but I'd give both of my nuts to get Rowell. Not just the left one.

Rowell is your new Jack Billings, except he’s actually good at football.

We really should forget about rowell, there is just no way we will be able to satisfy them from a draft picks point of view.

I suspect he will sign an extension that will run until his first year of free agency eligibility .

We really should target ldu , ed richards and TDK.

LDU - he's the one but will re-sign
(that's why Rowell would be the next target)
Richards - we now have a glut of good running HBF / developing HBFs
TDK - just not the type of player we should be targeting re position v $$ IMO

Richards is a midfielder, has been all of 24, and a good one at that. Much prefer him over LDU

His position flexibility is worth paying him the $$.

Ed has moved to the midfield mate. He’s exactly the type we love.

Only Nick and Crispy averaged more clearances than Richards in 2024. He tied with Mitchell (3rd at Pies) on 2.67 per game. And that was of limited opportunity as he transitioned into the Doggies midfield. Be very happy to bring him home, especially as a FA, accepting fully that that would attract the FA tax those contracts seem to include to entice a player to move.

Think we will keep our firsts for the next 2 years ( counting tommy as a first round pick) , before we entertain the thought of trading it for an established player.

Ed Richards seems gettable especially as a free agent. And with several looming retirements at the Pies, a war chest will open up making it doable. Would be an excellent addition to our midfield. Be nice to see the great nephew of Lou Richards at the Pies. Make it happen Leppa!

You’d have to think that the Dogs would match an offer for Richards, though. What would he cost in a trade?

Simmlar to what we paid for Houston I reckon

if houston was a standalone deal you can gurantee it would have been more. We had the lucky fates of doing a deal with two clubs.
But mids are generally worth more, so you'd be looking at 2 1sts

We need to v prudent and in the trading of our future firsts
If we do trade them, I would hope we’re targeting very young guns

Problem with RFA’s now is that even clubs who finish high and didn’t have much to offer before can now dig further into their future picks, so clubs will demand more in return.
