A side that is on the way up from very low bottom should be put to the sword.

Hogan, Stringer, Briggs all got the game to get rid of the rust. At home as well.

We should be firing on all cylinders.
Will be a good indication of the mindset within the team.

I want to see us be ruthless defensively and keep them to a low score whilst piling on 20 goals ourselves. They are a rabble and are missing any half decent player they have.

They will field a dozen players with under 50 games experience

Our highest ever score against West Coast was 138 points (in 2022) and our biggest winning margin over the Eagles is 67 (in the 2017 semi).

While we don’t want to be overconfident and underestimate our opponents, if we are ruthless and have the killer mindset, the above records should fall. It is a great opportunity to build %, which could be quite important in determining the relative final placings.

I think the Stringer project is interesting. A key pillar of our game needs to be pressure on the ball.
Jake’s very good with ball in hand, but not good at getting across the ground for four quarters as part of a team defence.
This will be a watch for mine, as we have very good players who suit our preferred style in the twos (Thomas et al).

Yeah agree. Maybe a good sub is Stringer out for a McMullin or a Harvey. If he's not impacting...then sub.
I reckon we give him a few weeks though. His forward pressure numbers at the Dons last year were only behind at Jones and Cadman at ours. Not that bad. Maybe more of a narrative than truth.

Stringer’s defensive deficiencies are over hyped. His numbers compare favourably to players like Brown and on par with Toby.

The thing with F50 defensive pressure is that if you are efficient at kicking goals then you aren’t needing to put any pressure on. A bit like inside 50’s. Melbourne get high numbers cause the ball pings in and out but they are hopeless with the ball inside 50.

I’d expect Stringers defensive numbers to improve on previous years as he is playing within our system now too
