He’s trained once this month sorry*

Sorry my mistake either way they train 4 days a week and to have only trained once in a month isn’t good enough

Still a concern.

The fact he was at a private boxing gym in Melbourne whilst his teammates were away on a team community camp doesn’t look great.

The last time we had a situation like this, the player was gone at seasons end, now wearing a cats guernsey!

You may be the messenger, but the message is incorrect. He has missed a number of sessions, but has trained on several occassions this month, including Wednesday (solo on Whitten Oval) and today. I have spoken with him personally this week and he is doing extra boxing sessions and said he is feeling strong.

Sorry brother but your info is incorrect, even if it’s coming from another player.

His been at WO more than once this month for training, I’ve seen it with my own eyes.

I think we can all agree that he hasn’t been there 100% of the time.. the reason for this remains a mystery. Probably time to move on if he’s back at training this week.

It would be literally impossible for a contracted AFL player to not show up to a majority if training sessions. They would be in breach of their contract, and wouldn't get paid or whatever. It's the core function of their job and their contract that they show up for the 46 weeks a year that they're not on annual leave, consistently.

I know it's different as it was a flier rookie contracted player that we were going to delist anyway, but we were allowed to effectively sack Luke Goetz back in the day simply because he wasn't adhering to his adult contract by turning up to training on time, consistently, and not have to pay out his full contract - while we tried to work through it with him at the end of the day he was in breach of his own contract because he was effectively showing up to work late.

Maybe something got lost in translation - Jamarra's maybe only showed up for one optional training session or something but is still consistently turning up for his contracted requirements - but gee there really are some gullible people here, clearly disproven by two seconds' cursory glance on the club website photo galleries (as people have pointed out), and people can make anything up on a club forum.

This is not to say that there aren't possible issues with Jamarra's off-field activities and that the club is annoyed - like we've all seen photos of him sitting at the front row of boxing fights etc (and we know who associates with those events) but I literally cannot believe that any contracted AFL player irrespective of talent in this era can just not show up for training and get away with it.

Don’t think it’s about Marra missing training.. think it’s been about him being suspended from training by the club..

Yeah if a random punter is hearing “from another player” that there’s doubts on JUH within the club - and then that info is freely put up here that raises eyebrows.

I wouldn’t want to link any info to players giving me tips if ever I had them.

Well unfortunately that’s exactly what happened. He was uncontactable for 5 days. The club and his management had no idea where he was.
While this is not great the young fella needs support and help. Though nothing can happen unless he wants that help.
Marra is a prestigious talent and hopefully the club can show him the love and support he needs.
While it’s frustrating at times for players & coaches it’s not deliberate against them. As stated above he needs help.
In saying that we can’t let this go on for years. So maybe he does need some forced time away from
the club to get the help he needs.
If he does he can be the best key fwd in the game for the next 10 yrs.

A few shots from the open training session in Ballarat on Wednesday. A few of the boys were still in Horsham. Pretty low key training at this stage with quite a few doing laps, e.g. Naughton, O'Donnell and Mcneil. One takeaway - Busslinger is a big unit! Hopefully we will see him in action this year.

Reg JUH

He has missed sessions does not matter how many what matters is why. If there is no valid reason such as injury etc it’s a concern. Fact he wasn’t in Ballarat tells me something is off.

JUH time to get yourself together because not only does pre season fly but so do careers.

Club, members, supporters will
all help you to be the best you can and they will back you but you need to want it. It is that simple.

I hate to say it, but where is the leadership at the club? We desperately need Moz back, he was always good at being able to put an arm around and straighten out any wayward player, who does that for us now?

I really, really want Marra to succeed, not just for us, but for himself, his family and his community.

I am scared it will be another Stringer situation or Sniff where we got bugger all for him, after spending a whole draft capital on him.

Having one of our most marketable players not go to a community camp is pretty odd. Just hope whatever is happening with JUh that he can sort it out and be a 700 goal player for the club. Because his talent is that level.

Can’t keep losing players like we did with Smith and Dunkley.

Reckon Kennedy is going to be such an underrated player for us. Our midfield looks so weak when Bont, Liber or Treloar have an off game. Probably been lucky that they’ve been few and far between for the last year or two.

I’m interested to see how they line the midfield up this year. For me, I’d be doing something like:

Bont, Richards, Treloar
Liber, Kennedy, Sanders

Then Harmes / Weightman / West / Garcia doing some pinch hitting. I think you could even make a case to get Kennedy into that first group.

How’s Sanders been this preseason?

Having Bont/Libba/Treloar/Richards take the bulk of the minutes means he may only play 30% TOG as a mid. That means the most important thing is that Kennedy can impact forward. Macrae and Daniel couldn't and it hampered team balance. Him being strong defensively in the contest is a nice bonus too.
