He's a year or two ahead of schedule from what i have heard.

Will be eager to follow COS, if his progression and development is like you said "ahead of schedule" it will be a bonus if it's a year like SDek break out season. Adelaide took Curtain after we selected O'sullivan, they're talking him up after supporters wanted him in much sooner last season.

The complaints about FS weren't about the concept itself, but more about higher draft pick FS being matched with a 20% discount on DVI. For draftees beyond pick 56 (I think) you just need a list spot to match but even that isn't really a discount because they're bid on that late for a reason and the talent is extremely even late in the draft

Compare Ashcroft vs Hofmann (assuming Saints match Hofmann). The 20% discount on Ashcroft benefitted the Lions so much more than what a discount on Hofmann would've benefitted the Saints because you can just take an equally talented player at that point in the draft

On Hastie, he's been really good the past couple of weeks after being on limited duties early Jan. Very quick and beautiful user; makes good decisions. Still a bit thin but should get some good game time this year

The concept of having “rights” or “dibs” on a player thru FSon has annoyed some clubs …and the recent comments align with a historical dislike from the Saints…. which seems to me to be related to the lack of luck clubs like yours have had.

FSon is a raffle . Firstly qualifying player having sons ..then having them be of a draftable standard ..let alone extreme high level like Ashcroft ..is rather indiscriminate. Brisbane is having a very good run atm. Geelong did well from FSons for year but apart from Hawkins most were not rated early draft prospects

Compare FS to academies .. they have a chance to be far more benifical.. as been shown by clubs being able to draft year after year. Picking a choosing which player to promote based on talent with academy.

How much one pays for any of these dibs players is debatable …but really the issue all revolves around the quality of the player. Players that getting later than R2 … very few grumble about a club getting a FSon. Getting access to Ashcroft after winning the flag shows the true exteme value of having a a dibs player. I doubt it would have mattered if Brisbane had of been made to pay a 20% premium on the bid (120%) … getting access to a player at that end of the draft is almost priceless… maybe its a little too much of advantage .. for a side that is at the top of the ladder.

wow - i feel a bit silly now when i see that sdk is in another photo looking way larger.

Pike looks exactly like 2021 sdk.

Im sure Pike is doing hard with running in Feb but come May if fit we will start to see what he can bring. It seems his highlights are as good as Conway

SDK/Conway, Holmes, Smith, Bruhn, Dangerfield, Dempsey would be our youngest starting midfield group in many years (extending it to ruck, rovers, centreman and wings). Just the one veteran.

Pretty exciting times.

We were very young at times last year when Danger was out. Basically that but with Atkins, Bowes and Clark replacing Smith and Danger.

Full strength midfield* is what I meant. One you would start in a knockout final with everybody available. But yes it's been tracking that way since Selwood + Smith retired, Guthrie broke and Blicavs moved back to defence. This season it will track further that way.

Just a limited workload but I know for a fact Geelong are pretty excited what Edwards could offer as the season progresses.
