Why did they assume they'd be shit this year after making a PF last year?

I don't know how Ken has got so much out of them tbh.
I don't think they knew they'd be shit this year - that's my view. The handover is simply to ease Carr into the role, without all the additional pressure the media heaps on them. I think Ken's a legend and hope we get him over as an assistant next year.

Big chance the succession plan happens earlier than planned.

Imagine if they were to lose to Tigers at home next week? Port fans would burn the place down. With Ken in it.
And with any luck, I'll be there to witness the beautiful sight in person. I don't get to many AFL games these days, since we don't play in my neck of the woods that often; but I think I'll make a special case and go to a neutral game this week for funsies.

Any chance Hinkley won't see the year out as coach? He should just resign and let Carr take over and see how it goes.

I think Port hierarchy should take some blame as it has been known for a couple of years that Carr is the coach in waiting, why prolong it if the are going to replace him?
I agree. He already looks mentally out.

23k isn't a great crowd, however it's terrible scheduling by the AFL given the Grand Prix and the opposition.

Add to that the weather and it's understandable. We got 36k to the G on Mother's Day in 2023 in better conditions.

The AFL's fixturing rarely makes sense at times. Dogs v North starting at the same time as Pies v Power another example.
