you obviously havent heard of darcy wilson who has out performed weddle in every possible metric. standing vertical, running vertical and even the 2KM time trial.

I have heard of Darcy Wilson just wasn’t aware he was a key position player. What a weird shitfight to start.

Was a bit late but made it to training. Was lovely meeting some fellow die hard Hawk fans and putting a face to some of the BF names I’ve become accustomed to over the years 🙏👍

After attending some training sessions pre Xmas last couple years felt the club/players showed some urgency given it’s only the second training session back. From having the balls out, drills with pressure/tackling/quick one touch release stuff etc …… hopefully it equates to having a good start to the season.

Hard to watch everyone but some things I noticed:

  • Dear is thicker around the thighs/hips,
  • Lewis looks the fittest I’ve seen,
  • Battle is clean and a beautiful kick can see that he will fit in very nicely with hockball,
  • combined with his class Croc is right up there in the fitness stakes (copped a knock to his cheek while tackling but all good 👍). The way he trains and conducts himself ….. is starting to look like one of the seniors out there,
  • Gunners looks great like a youngster again,
  • after missing Mon Weds upfront as usual,
  • McCabe moves well runs/glides around like a wingman,
  • Marz looks very mobile, marks at the highest point,
  • Cody is a solid unit ….. like when Newk first arrived. Sat out a bit but no different to other newbies in the past,
  • Seamus did really well in the running,
  • Hill has a nice sprinting and kicking action in general play ……. but needs goal kicking practice big time 😀. Already popular among the boys,
  • Blanck working and pushing himself hard (all straight line stuff as with Mitch) wears his heart on his sleeve, and
  • the coach was very involved/vocal!

Had a good chat to a staff member ……… you wouldn’t want to come back after the break unless in good shape! Go Hawks.

Wonder if it's anything to do with the doco Channel are doing on us. Hoping this gives us an edge. Also was Lewis on the track doing light drills?

Gunners made a quip on Monday that "you can't come back not in great shape and expect to get a game" when told he was looking good on the track.

Seems the psyche of the group is very much about pushing each other and knowing that you're either on board or you'll get left behind.

Very pleased with this.
Hill's athleticism isn't in question, but I was curious about how much his kicking had changed through rugby.
If his field kicking looks good, that's a bonus.

MacDonald is going to be a weapon if his fitness improves.
I was disappointed with his performance against Port, especially given his excellent game the week before.

Yeah alot of straight line repeat runs along the boundary line with Blanck/Siss/Bruest on the opposite side of the ground and practised his goal kicking. He’s very vocal to teammates. Lewis is looking fit must have been working hard in the gym during his recovery. Good to see Blanck running a lot getting his fitness base up again.

Very interesting to hear you say he's the fittest you've seen him. He will not want to miss out this year so glad he's doing everything he can to be there

Having 27/28 players that can step in and play …….. the competition for spots is very high. Picking a best side ain’t easy!

Pretty sure weddle said he ran a 2:45 1km or something stupid like that, Wilson is a great runner and athlete but he’s not that good.

Above all else, I'm super-interested in what Sammy and the coaches have in mind for Battle, Sic and Weds. So if the track watchers on here could please keep as close an eye as possible on that (eg. what groups they're training with mainly, back, forward or mid), that'd be muchly appreciated.

Any updates on how Darcy Wilson is going on the track?
He's the super-bestest at everything!

And the Saints have the nicest jumper too! Not wees-and-poos! So there!
