Discussion 2025 Midprice Madness

One thing to remember he is coming from a club winning lots of games and also being the No1 Mid for many years. He will be another year older and he is already slow and I personally think he will be frustrating player to own.
There are lots of mouths to feed in the North Midfield and I doubt he goes above 85 average.
Okay lets look at the stats.

Between 2021-23 at Sydney he averaged 72-75% CBAs each year. Over that period he averaged 102 in SC.

In 2025 he's $343k so back of the napkin arithmetic suggests he needs to average a little under 100 to make 150k.

Then lets consider who was getting CBAs at North at the end of last year.

Phillips is on a one year contract. He could turn it around (and I hope he does) but he's not getting 58% of CBAs at the start of this H&A season.

Is Phillips even getting selected? Barring injury or spec tasks like a tag role, I doubt it. Not only does Parker straight up trump him in leadership and proven ability, but LP's also got positional versatility. Simpkin, Powell, Sheezel and Parker can all rotate through the flank when they're not on-ball. Phillips is midfield or bust.

Reports suggest Parker's asserting himself at training as the most vocal presence on field, directing traffic in match sims, and so forth. Reckon he's been tasked with ensuring that our midfield isn't less than the sum of its parts, as it was for much of last year.

Just a hunch but I could see Parker averaging 65-70% of CBAs until the round 12 bye.

Don't take this the wrong way because I'm not bagging Parker or the Kangas this is purely Supercoach.
Over the 3 years you pointed out 2021-2023 Sydney won 43 games and played finals in all 3 years.
The last 5 years North have won 15 games now surely you can't say that he will have the same scoring potential when he is now older in a very young team and not winning many games.
If LDU,Sheezle & Wardlaw aren't getting the bulk CBA's 75-85% then players like Parker,Simpkin,Powell,Phillips & McKercher rotating through then North should shut up shop.
Parker is there in a playing/Mentoring role just like Darling I bet your not expecting him to kick 50 goals this year.

Adelaide won 8 games last year and had 3 midfielders average more than 100 a game. There's no reason North can't have 3 midfielders achieve the same thing this year.

I'm making a prediction about what is going to happen over the course of the next dozen rounds. Not what happens when we're contending for finals.

North lost half a dozen games last year because they couldn't switch gears and hold game-winning advantages. The Pies came back nine goals down ffs. That comes down to an appalling lack of on-field leadership. Sure, Sheezel is the captain in waiting, and the future of North's midfield belongs to Wardlaw, but I think its going to be Parker assuming that leadership role on field for the first half of 2025 and stopping the rot.

This is the same bloke that had a total of 34 Disposals in the 3 Finals matches last year.
His 3 SC scores went 46,39,57 and that includes 3 junk goals in the last quarter of the GF.
Hardly screams Leadership and stopping the rot in a 10 goal loss in the biggest game of the year.

So long as he doesn't go PING with the first kick in February....
Yeah, Cats fans all seem to be pretty reluctant on him, that probably tells its.own story.
Do rate Guthrie, though.
Martin a perennial risk now, but Feeling and Brisbane both seem to be OK at managing that sort of thing than some other clubs.

And his CBAs for those games?

31%, 8%, 42%.

All I'm saying is I think he's gonna have the opportunities to show some midfield leadership in the first half of 2025.

I think his CBAs will benefit from Phillips getting demoted, and Simpkin playing more time on the flank.

In any case, we shall see.

Miaow - he was playing forward hence the low SC scores.

He's a pick if you think he will get midfield time. You'd think playing in his best position would be one of the reasons he moved to North. Perfectly reasonable to think he gets plenty of midfield time, especially in the first half of the year.

I'm not starting him, but it's not a terrible idea.

Jack Martin is untouchable until he gets to his bubble game. And even if he somehow plays 3 in a row, expect Chris Scott to manage him the week after.

So you agree that if he isn't playing fulltime midfield then he is a dud pick?

If by fulltime you mean more than 60% midfield than sure.

Just like if SDK doesn't play significant ruck time, or Mills doesn't play consistent on-ball time, they'll probably be dud picks too.

There's a musky odour in the air, a clash of horns.
Who will win the battle over Lukey Paaaarker?
