I mean, the poster in question has Phillipou as his avatar

You sure he’s not just jokingly trying to turn people off MP so that he can have a SC point of difference?
No, that's a serious offence on the boards ....he's a regular & would not do that

Arie far more likely to be on the P155 again and Poo breaking records.
He is having a lend for sure.
He's not the type ....but as I posted take it for what it's worth

Saints are a really interesting watch given their last 3 first round picks were heavily linked to us.

2021 - Allegedly NWM was our guy after Rachele
2022 - Linked to Pou with pick 5 before we traded out for Rankine
2023 - Heavily linked with Darcy Wilson before we traded up for curtin.

NWM, Pou and Wilson all looking very promising, but also love our 3.
All sliding door moments to watch over the coming years.

I was told Wilson was our guy until Curtin fell into our laps
C4 said that Wilson expected to be selected by us in last year’s lead-up, before Curtin became an option

As a big Wilson guy I would’ve been ecstatic with that result, but was probably even happier in the end we managed to get Curtin

The club put out a promo vid after the draft with a poorly blurred out whiteboard which all but confirmed the noise that he was our guy before trading up.
Yeah I think I had some info a month out - which I think I posted

I remember telling you and Jeff that a Rebels staffer said that Darcy Wilson's father Mick was convinced Adelaide was where his boy was going very late in the piece.
Darcy Wilson's father Mick is Murray Bushrangers talent manager.

At this point Darcy is certainly well ahead of Curtin in his development.

In fairness to Curtin, he appeared to be carrying a knee problem most of the season.
I hope he has a real break out year.

A full uninterrupted preseason to help him on his tank and he could easily be one of the huge improvers for us this year off half forward / wing with some spurts through the midfield. Can play as a roaming 3rd tall when forward or as a connector off the wing with that top drawer left foot of his.

Curtin looked pretty good in the training photos yesterday. Obviously diving right in and seems to be at full health.

It can be judged... just not now.

We are clearly now in a position to judge the 2014 list, having seen what those players were capable of at their peaks. Similarly, we'll be able to properly judge the 2025 list in 2034 or 2035.

As for which is "Best Ever", that's always going to be a subjective judgement.
In 2014 we finished 10th at the end of the season .... and for those who were losing their knickers after the first 4 games this year, in 2014 we were 15th ....exact same position as the Crows in 2024

In retrospect, was the list that good, given the 2017 disaster of fragility ?

Kane McGoodwin ....every Finals team has 4-6 All Australians ....again that simply reflects the pointy end of the list, not the depth of quality

Tell me if any of these players are or will be duds ....I'll take wagers on Pedlar

Dawson
Rankine
Curtin
Michallaney
Keays
Thilthorpe
Rachele
Pedlar
Soligo
Hinge
Worrell
Milera
Fogarty
Keane
#4 2024 Draft

That's 15 players ....I haven't included players like Crouch & Laird, who would have been nominated in 2014 .....nor "potential" up & comers Oscar Ryon, who I'm big on, and Nankervis, who I'm also a big wrap for

Milera is the one on that list I don't think will be a regular player given his injury issues.

You rate Keane higher than me. I have Murray well in front.

Toss of a coin ....Keane given the dramatic improvement in such a short period ....and having only played 26 games

No doubt Murray is light years ahead of Hartigan

Milera is only 27 ....he showed no ill effects from the same injury he suffered previously .....it was simply a slow road back, which IMO Burgess will streamline his recuperation

Toss of a coin between Murray & Keane?

Wtf are you watching?

Outside guys have strong history in performing in season 1 , almost over performing

Windsor and Wilson were the examples from last years draft

Ollie Hollands and NWM the year before although I expect NWM to continually elevate off that

I bet Xavier Lindsay and Sam Marshall outperform most mids in this draft next year as they will play off wing or half back and know how to do it

COLL's Jayden Stephenson ....even won the Rising Star in 2018 ....2 years later he's traded to NORTH and the rest is history

You get worked out quickly in the AFL ....year one is the honeymoon for outside players

Ollie Hollands ...went from star to average in his 2nd year

Those who play backwards of centre seem to last longer .....Bonner an exception, getting delisted in his 1st year, after 19 games off HB ....a bit of a surprise

I don't think Bonner counts when thinking about 1st year players, he was with Power for 8 years before Saints

Unless I'm thinking of wrong player, which is quite likely, I don't follow non-AFC teams much any more!
