They can't afford to be giving up high picks right now, so this leaves it open to him joining them in a couple of years when they'll still have heaps of salary space.

Equally things might change for us with player movement, or they might not.

It brings us back into the Chad race with them whereas if he left this year we were well behind. So in that sense it's very bad for them. If they're still rubbish in 2 years you'd think we might even be favourites

Having the Richmond 3rd is massive in being able to match for Whan.

As a noted big trade detractor, especially Jackson, going through and looking at the trades and the players picked it's not as bad as you think.

Bolton was effectively done for a late first plus an early second when you consider the swaps and Reid.

Jackson more costly but still a bit of a wash when you consider where the picks fell. Just bugs me we are year 3 of him and still not sure what his best position is, but that is mainly an injury issue.

My understanding is they do. Many of the best ones over the years have even been All Australian at national u18 level a year early. There's plenty of dual AAs at u18 level.

It’s really 2 first round picks.

11>14 points difference means pick 18 moves up to around 15.

Therefore it is 10,15 before academy and compo etc.
