Reidy is a real problem because we could just delist him at season’s end but Riddle isn’t ready and who’s going commit career suicide to move across the country to be behind Darcy and Jackson?

Almost has to be a WA boy returning home who’s sh** enough to never warrant a no.1 ruck spot but good enough that they aren’t a complete liability. Good luck finding someone like that who doesn’t have similar options elsewhere in the competition (especially in Melbourne if from a Victorian club).

Reidy is 25 years old so he’s almost middle aged by AFL standards.

We would have been better off with Jackson main ruck and have him switch forward with Voss.

Agree entirely but I still think in an ideal world we play two rucks. Problem is that Reidy is no good and Voss is simply a much better footballer. If Voss isn’t a complete liability in the ruck the answer of who we should pick is obvious.

I have not been this disillusioned with a Freo ruck since Jack Hannath. Even Scott Jones goes better than Reidy. Voss is going to be better around the ground, and definitely offer more up forward.

There’s a reasonable argument forming that Voss should be starting ahead of Amiss at this stage.
I’m not quite there yet, but jeez Jye was bad yesterday. He looks timid out there. That is a massive red flag for me in a key forward. You could probably get away with hat a bit more as a classy second banana, that’s more a leading forward type. A bit like Bailey Fritsch at the Dees.

Doesn’t help that the delivery I50 was mostly dogshit. Amiss does his best work on the lead with a bit of separation, a bit like Sturt when he plays.

If we are gonna continue to hit mongrel crappy balls inside 50 to out Key Talls I think I’d prefer Voss in there crashing packs and hurting a few lads with his physical prowess than Amiss to be honest.

Idk if Jye's problem is all mental or if he is just not putting in the hard yards. Regardless, he needs a talking to. The same thing happened to Treacy and Darcy and they both did a complete 180 (for their own respective reasons).

It’s almost like we need to swing Cox forward just so that Amiss can get stuck with the worst defender because it truly doesn’t look like he’s gonna get the ball any other way.

I actually liked the move to put Cox forward. He’s got something to offer there and it’s a point of difference to most other clubs apart from hawks with Sicily. Especially when Amiss was getting such a towelling.
Again though - when it did happen it was way too little too late

It’s what we do when we’re trying to win a game late. A defender goes forward. Cox usually the one to do it but Pearce has done it before.

I remember round 1 last year where Cox spent the whole game forward and Amiss and Treacy had about 4 each cos Harris Andrew’s was preoccupied with him

Surely we need to be a bit more unpredictable with the coaching moves though? We don’t need Cox to play forward every game, but if an opposition defence is on top given them something different to counteract. We did it to great effect with Logue in 2022 as well at times.
It’s the same with the sub. Predetermined that they come on a couple of moments into Q4 every bloody week. If a player is having a stinker just pull them at half time, give the sub a chance to actually impact the game. Only reason Chappy came on early yesterday was the Switta injury.

If we did it early then we are a man down when Switta goes down 5 mins into the third

Hawthorn do it with Sicily all the time.
Just feel like Cox hates being forward and coaches reluctant to do it. Pearce and Draper is fine with Ryan. Cox needs to be prepared to be a swingman

Never been clearer that Warner should be the priority. We cannot be dependent on only Serong, Brayshaw and Young. Young is the classy one and the real line breaker.

Can’t depend on Andy because his disposal by foot is inconsistent at best and shit at worst.

Even if Reid comes on as expected we’re still a class midfielder short.

Johnson showed a bit yesterday but in more of a work horse fashion. Erasmus ain’t it. O’Driscoll’s disposal is iffy.

Given the belting the midfield got, we actually scored pretty well. Treacy holding some marks and kicking straight would’ve helped.

Bolton will help immeasurably.

But we need to win the midfield
It doesn't help when Serong is playing full forward.
