I don’t know any of the dirt on JUH, but “the AFL media” are happy to publish anything that will generate clickbait… not exactly bastions of responsible journalism.
(…and apologies to all the quality AFL journalists out there).
I think mental health is an issue that not even the most critical of journalists would attempt to touch to generate clickbait. It's a serious issue that should be treated as such, but you can't have people like JUH trivialising this issue through his poor actions and it absolutely sends the wrong message. Like i said before, i feel sorry for players who are going through this, and i'm sure the next player who puts his hand up for going through mental health issues will be scrutinised even further as a result of JUH's actions. It's a shame, and i hope our club doesn't attempt to bring him here.

Likewise, him being indigenous means absolutely nothing as well.
It's certainly not an excuse for not giving a shit, but it does mean one thing, he may potentially be more willing to listen to strong Indigenous role models, whereas I don't think anyone could have possibly got through to Fev.

Of course, Jamarra might not be willing to listen either, he could just become the new Harley Bennell.

This is also the same guy who won't even listen to buddy franklin, yet our indigenous leaders are able to help and fix him? No thanks.
I'm missing something here, when did he not listen to Buddy? They never played for the same club.

The point is that he also is ignoring advice from indigenous players as well. Especially great ones who played the game. John Ralph said that he won't even listen to eddie betts and lance franklin. If he's ignoring them, then our players won't be able to do anything for him

Gettable today
  • Clubs interested in Henry Smith. Contracted to 2026. Brisbane see him as part of their future. If there was a mid-season trade period, he'd be right up there. Keep an eye on him during the trade period this year.
  • Expect Starc talks to amp up around mid-season/in 4-5 weeks. Brisbane still wants to keep him but no deal done yet.

Thanks for listening. Saw the collingwood love-fest in the episode description and decided this week wasn't for me.

If Ralph is to be believed, that's concerning, but they also aren't around him all the time. My point is, Jamarra isn't beyond all hope, maybe he just needs to lose a bit more of what he has before he smartens up and listens to advice. I don't want that to be at the Lions because of the risk, but if we made the decision, I'd have faith in our culture to get through to him.

I really hope we've outlined a succession plan to Henry. Big O is nearly 31, Fort is nearly 32, we will need him one day soon.

Tell me the price and I'll tell you whether I'm ok with it. Draft pick wise I wouldn't do it for anything more than a second rounder, and salary wise I'd be very wary of matching his current deal.

Its the difference between Freo acquiring Jesse hogan for a top 10 pick and huge salary given his issues, vs GWS picking him up off the scrap heap for peanuts. Not comfortable being Freo in this scenario.

Putting aside the off-field drama's and medical issues, and based purely on what they both proved on the park, who is the preferred option
A. JUH - 67 games over 4 yrs, 103 goals, avg 1.54 per game
B. O Allen - 98 games over 7 yrs, 143 goals, avg 1.43 per game

Who offers more? Is there more potential with JUH age, or does O Allen provide better leadership?

If it was purely a talent v talent discussion, I don't think many are taking Allen over JUH. It's far less black and white in reality though

Yep, if it was purely talent v talent, JUH wouldn't be available.

Why does Jamarra keep reminding me of that Fevola trade ?
I don't think Jamarra will give you the scandals like Fev did, but you can't trust him not to go awol if things go bad for him. Then we would be sitting on a heavy contract with a player who doesn't want to be here. You have to ask yourself, is the risk worth it? We're already a great team, and i think it isn't.

Hard to see how it is worth it at the moment.
He has significant upside if he can become stable and apply himself but until there is proof that he can or is willing to do the work required, then the possible reward doesn't outweigh the risk.
It's a shame but people piss good opportunities down the drain every day.

Neither in my opinion. I would pass on both as they both have problems that could come back and bite us.

Sure Fages

I have no doubt it's both 100% and phrased very specifically.

We've probably had discussions with his agent, his mum, his dog, his U18s coach, and whoever else we might have scouted him with, but we definitely haven't had any conversations with Oscar himself.

Sure Fages

Few other notable mentions from Fagan this morning:
Coleman: Hopeful to feature in VFL next weekend
Doedee:
“He’s going OK. I had a conversation with him the other day about when does he want to put his hand up to be available for selection of AFL,” Fagan said of Doedee, who will play a third successive VFL game on Saturday..
“He’s not at that point yet. We have to understand he’s been two years out of the game. He’s trying to build his confidence back in his body.
“He feels like he’s getting better each time that he goes out there. Once he gets some continuity, he’ll come and tell me one day when he thinks he’s ready to be put his hand up for senior selection.”
Lohmann: Expected to play this weekend

Fagan literally said on AFL 360 the day after the grand final that he didn't hear anything about Joe Daniher retiring, then a week later he said he knew he was. I love Fages, but he shouldn't make his lies so obvious.
Facinating and concerning how poster like yourself can call our coach a liar.
Maybe a little respect & gratitude needs to be re-kindled before your fingers touch the keypad when posting.
