I think Lemmey gets at least another year but will need to show progression obviously.

That would really help the AFL team, to have a strong VFL team & playing pushing for selectionWould be very surprised if they are āconsistently floggedā in 2025.
I hope not. We've been terrible for a couple of years just as we've needed them to be good so players could get games during finals.Would be very surprised if they are āconsistently floggedā in 2025.
No current season stats available
This is interesting because it would mean one of Carroll/Durdin won't be a train on player as we are only allowed to have 4.
I know I'm a broken record, but signing McMahon is a no brainer imo.
He's still only 22yo, so now approaching the age where key forwards start to mature. Proven goal kicker (2nd overall in the VFL) and won our B&F....not sure what more he needs to do to earn a spot.
Anyway, I digress. If H or Charles go down for an extended period during the season, we're in all sorts. You can start plugging holes or trying to manufacture a makeshift forward half week after week. Or throw TDK up there at the expense of our ruck, and bring Pitto in as our 1st ruck. Or throw JSOS or Kemp there as a key marking option week after week, and pray for the best.
Of course we've got Lemmey - but at the end of last year when we our arses were hanging out the seat of our pants with a huge injury toll, no key forwards, and only 27 odd players to choose from, big Lem was still kcking the dew off the grass in the VFL....which just demonstrates the MC don't have the confidence right now to give him a crack at senior level. That may change over summer, but if it doesn't, we're back to bare bones.
For mine, we desperately need another forward who can take a big grab and kick goals. Who knows, McMahon may become our Logan Morris as that 3rd tall mobile marking forward.
Out of our other train ons, I'm not convinced in the slightest with DGB, Carroll now appears to be surplus especially after today, and big Nigel can't be trusted to get onto the park. I'd be taking McMahon and leave the other spot for the mid season draft....unless the next Eddie Betts/Jeff Garlett small forward happens to fall on our laps.
I just don't think Lemmey is an AFL player. Too slow and not agile. I hope I'm wrong.
2025 is make or break for him.
When you factor McMahon is only 2 years older, it's chalk and cheese in terms of output thus far.
Jeez I hope we haven't stuffed up and given white (or one of the others) a false belief they had a train-on gig. That would be cruel.Seems Josh Gabelich has deleted this tweet so not sure if that means White is not a train-on player
Possible White is doing some training with the afl boys as part of the vfl program and the journalist got confused.Jeez I hope we haven't stuffed up and given white (or one of the others) a false belief they had a train-on gig. That would be cruel.
2 - likely to he used on SSPhow many list spots we have now
It's next year or break for Mots in my opinion.Every year: Motlop needs a massive pre-season
Saying that, this year, Motlop needs a massive pre-season
Anyone can still get the spot, just won't be paid $1000 per week. But if he's on the vfl list, he's probably getting paid there anyway.Jeez I hope we haven't stuffed up and given white (or one of the others) a false belief they had a train-on gig. That would be cruel.
Whats he meant to be showing? He's had plenty of good/decent games in the VFL in a team that got flogged all year. He's obviously not going to get games ahead of Curnow or Mckay, I see no issue with him developing in the VFL until they're done if he's continually improving.
I think if they can play at the level they have shown and remain relatively injury we will be fine. Williams and Fogarty both had strong contributions in the fwd line last year. Motlop and Durdin are still relatively young and have both shown glimpses.
We will also add Moir to that mix next year and should see Smith, E. Hollands and Cottrell spending time FWD.

Heās supposed to be showing that he is AFL quality, he has 29 goals from 33 games, so far thatās not setting the world on fire.
We have seen with McMahon that there is state league players who are well ahead of him in terms of output, so he needs a big season to ensure he gets another contract.
He went 12 goals in his first year and 17 in his second which is improving year on year to date, but neither are good numbers.
Im not sure why people get defensive, list spots are tight, players get delisted, he needs to perform to hold his spot, if he can have a break out year and get a new deal, good on him.
Disagree. Not sure there is going to be immediate spot for Hewitt in best 22 midfield. I now see him competing with Cerra, Lord and eventually Ben Campo for the defensive midfield spot.
My starting midfield would be Cripps, Walsh, Cerra, EHollands, Jagga
We have been crying for run and spread, hence further developing Hollands and introducing Jagga.
Would be room for a 6th midfielder as sub. The issue for Hewitt and Lord is they can only really play inside or defensive mid

Yup agree with another year, but naturally we expect signs of natural progress, more tenacity and attack at the ball, would be great. Harry can be a little laconic, a trait that has been a demise of many a tall forward.I think Lemmey gets at least another year but will need to show progression obviously.
Agree good development of our youngsters is vital ,indispensable, however easier said than done , especially when our VFL team is flogged often.Disagree.
Starting midfield is Cripps, Walsh, Cerra, Hewett.
Kids need to prove themselves and dislodge the senior boys in pre-season.

But is it though?100% spot on. Great points and explanations.
I think Lemmey needs to be ready for 1s by end of preseason to not select McMahon. Clearly the club didnt think so at the end of last season as there were multiple spots and we restructured our forwardline instead. But is it though?
Apparently we need McMahon (despite him having been on another clubs list and failing) on the list because he is in the sweet spot at 22 because we apparently don't have confidence in Lemmey despite him being only 19 when he last played.
Not sure that we need a back up to the back up to two of the best key forwards in the comp, unless we don't believe that Lemmey has any improvement in him at all. I thought that Lemmey was starting to show a bit towards the end of last season. I'd be happy to back him in rather than carry a 4th tall forward, particularly if Kemp is going to play forward and Moir has a break out season.
