All I hope is Austin and co have some names lined up for next year to fill that void if the form issues persist amongst our lot.

We won't have a heap of trade capital but small forwards play a massive part in the modern game, going another season without any established threats is a risk we've almost been forced to take given we had other list holes to fill too.
Aren’t our three NGA players small forwards?

All in on McMahon.

As others have said, would have replaced either Charlie or Harry last year.

My issue with him is that he sometimes lacks a second effort. He’s also a confidence player and can lose the plot if it’s not going his way. But given the very poor side he played in, it’s too his credit that he kicked as many goals as he did.

Personally, I can’t see Lemmey making it. Looked lost as a defender. Was decent as a second ruck option. And, as a forward, he’s always second to the ball and rarely clunks it in a pack. I hope I’m wrong.

Im not as big on McMahon. Basically in the same mould as Kemp, Moir and McGov but not as good a field kick as any of them.

Think he's a classic Nick Graham 'too good for VFL but not good enough for AFL' type. Guess we'll see over the pre season.

I'd have liked to see us try out Will White, shown a fair bit in multiple roles in the VFL this year.

He’s taller than all of them. Is 198 cms according to the interwebs. He’s definitely not the best kick. And he’s not a guy you would centre your forward line around. But at a pinch he can play a role up forward if we’re short our twins.

I like Will White as well. And would give him a crack before a DGB (if we’re looking at filling the second rookie spot).

Would've been interesting what strategy we would've applied if a bid came just before our pick.

I wonder if they had spoken to some clubs and planned to trade out that pick and trade back in after we matched, etc.

Wouldn't put it past our team, they seem ahead of the curve.

I’d say they would’ve had a plan in place. If you watch the video from night 2 the club released Geelong actually rung Austin to see if it was ok to bid on Ben

Wasn’t Durdin a midfielder as a junior? Regardless if he has been selected as a small forward then that is a very poor pick as he has very little goal sense, can barely kick 40 metres and is a 50/50 set shot from 30 metres directly in front. I doubt he’ll ever kick 25 goals in a season.

With a name ‘beyond blue’ you know how to smack someone down.

Matt carols girlfriend is my employee- told me his been offered a guaranteed list spot if he can stay injury free, didn’t play one game last year due to injury but club willing to give Carroll the spot if he can get through a Rob Innes pre season.

Interesting. I got told different. No one is guaranteed a role. Need to get through pre season to be a chance.

We have offered Carroll Durdin DGB an opportunity to prove themselves and we will be putting someone on list at end of pre season

Only then will a decision be made. To many variables in the meantime

Probably because you didn’t make it up

I don’t know anyone’s source or history just passing on what I was told. Made clear to me it is an “opportunity” to get a spot with no guarantees

I asked because I was interested to hear theory behind Durdin getting a go and thoughts about DGB

Time will tell

I just don't think Lemmey is an AFL player. Too slow and not agile. I hope I'm wrong.

2025 is make or break for him.
When you factor McMahon is only 2 years older, it's chalk and cheese in terms of output thus far.

It’s Lemmey’s lack of mongrel and competitiveness that worries me. Has some natural ability and athleticism but if he doesn’t improve effort he is done

My concern is he is like Young when it comes to competitiveness. Hope he can improve this

I don’t think McMahon will be a star but he will give you effort and play a role
