Olli Hotton just delisted by the Saints. Was highly touted in his draft year but slid to the 30s. Carlton connection from his dad.

Bar injury, wonder what his issues are? Would he be worth a look as a DFA.
It's a no from me.

Liked him in his draft year and wanted us to draft him over Cowan and Binns. But from what I've seen he doesn't have the athletic weapons to play HF/mid at the highest level and has been consistently injured. Doesn't accumulate the ball or kick many goals when he is playing. I'd keep an eye on his VFL form and make a call if he starts to show something exceptional at that level. He seems like a classic talent league player that does well against his own age group but gets found out against men.

The injuries are pushing me away from him too. We can’t be getting rid of guys like Marchbank, Martin and Cuningham, only to replace them with perpetually injured 20 year olds

We'll have Ollie cotts acres doc and one or both of campo boys as wingers. Adding Walsh also makes it too many maybe 🤔

Ollie to half back perhaps? and doc to retire soon so maybe ok.
You forgot Binns.

But BC is apparently an inside mid, LC a HB. Doc closer to the end as mentioned, maybe wing or a utility kind of role, or sub, etc. OH could continue at HB depending on options. Cotts is more HF for mine, and personally I don't have him in the seniors.

I'd like to see Walsh play more outside this year. Maybe split his minutes fairly even between the outside mid role and wing and start at HF once a qtr. Would probably work well as the 3rd wing, ie say the 2 wings do about 80-85% each, then Walsh covers the remainer.

Out of contract at the end of 2025.

If he has a monster year, and he can if he gets his body right, he will want a monster deal.

If we sign him and TDK our salary cap is cooked.
After his interupted and disjointed season this year, I doubt it. If he returns to '23 form then it'll help his deal, but he's hardly going to get TDK money just because he's out of contract.

Reading around the traps, it seems a lack of fitness, form and consistency is his issue. Only 2 years in though. Seems a little premature perhaps, but they'd know I guess.

I liked him a bit at the time too, but I think I commented his top end speed was an issue as a forward... like him much more as an on-baller as I think he has a good combination of strength, initial acceleration and agility, and if needed he can leap over the top for a grab to work over an opponent.

Has a good nose for a goal, and I think would make for good development option to cultivate midfield depth. But yes he has to show a huge want to get fitter, and his handling ability under pressure has been a little suspect (again, fitness may be the issue here).

Saints have also shuffled on Paton and Hayes, which means they have kicked 14 off the list with only one brought in so far, and a lot of it was senior depth and fringe 22 players. Expecting the Saints - and others - to hit the DFA period hard.

If we had players in mind, I think we should be signing them now, not later.

DFA period opens Friday, so we'll find out then I guess.

I think people take a high draft pick as a given future elite player way way too much for granted- when the evidence over decades suggests it is a goodish bet that the player becomes okish - maybe - if all goes well. Peopel can point to teh high picks that are great - but forget the many more that are total duds.
Yep, but just remember there may be the opportunity to turn 3 into say 6 & 11, IF the Tigers want 2 picks in the top 3 badly enough. If that opportunity was presented to us, i'd grab it.

North would take that offer for 2 in about 5 seconds so doubt it gets offered to us for 3. We would if we could though.

It's a nil point because Tigers aren't evening offering that to North.

accurate but kemp also lead towards the ball carrier, rther than standing and wrestling and waiting for the high ball.

if we can bring that into the mix, one leading and one or two engaging the body it immediately makes entry into the f50 more dynamic and less obvious
I'm hoping Charlie can overcome his injuries and become more mobile, which will address some of these issues.
H, Charlie and JSOS/Kemp present difficult matchups and constant movement prevents the defensive from sagging off onto the deepest option, creating the 2v1 that we've grown accustomed to..

A friend of mine who is a fitness coach was chatting with Lachie Cowan recently. Apparently he picked up about 6 kg this season but lost about 4 through the demands of the season. Goes to show how difficult it is to gain muscle over successive seasons. It was one of the reasons he improved as the season went on in his running capacity. Look for him to build up a bit more this off season.

Cerra has played some good games, but overall has been underwhelming thus far, regardless of the hamstrings.
I'd be looking to trade if he has a half-decent year, and release some salary cap space.
We just don't need him and he offers no point of difference to our team.

This.
I'm hoping that it was influenced by injury and with a proper recovery we can see a much more dynamic Curnow,
I'm pretty sure it was injury keeping him from leading up. Previous seasons we haven't been having this conversation.
A Good ball-user with #3 or 'Lij may also encourage them (CC & HMc) more.

We traded up to 3 for a reason, I can't see us moving.

Won’t happen, but we traded for 3 with picks 12 & 14 and we’re stoked with that. If we were offered 6 & 11 the you’d absolutely think about it, massive upgrade

I personally wouldn’t draft Lucas Campo. Winger with poor disposal. Without the name we wouldn’t be thinking about him at all. Plus we have so many wingers now.

I see on the AFL website we’ve re-signed McMahon to a VFL contract.

Thought he was one of the DFA we’ve been interested in? Don’t see why we’d ask him to be a train on player, when he’s been part of our system for the last 2+ years.

Could be another Markov or Caminiti scenario, stolen from right in front of us.
