They wont counter these issues.. shit no.

All they do is ignore them, pretent they arent real and attack any poster on here that dares to highlight them as a “hater”.. then put their childish little thumbs down.

I have asked the question a dozen times over the past 12 months of “given laird, keays, crouch and sloane, when they play, more often than not get 30+ possessions a game.. why do we comtinue to lose?”..
i mean, if they are such gun players then surely we’d win more games when these guys have so much of the footy right?

And yet not one of the toadies ever bothers to try and answer it..

Again yesterday.. keays/laird/crouch combined for 89 possesions.. 89!.. our main go to mids.. and we just get a 30 point win at home against one of the worst teams the comp has seen in its history.. we helped WC avoid the record yesterday. 8 games in a row of 50+ point loses.

89 possessions.. most of them dumb handballs, a hell of a lot of them dump kicks, some of them kicks onto the chests of opposition players, some of the kicks even dribbled along the ground.

Talentless, slow, non damaging, poorly skilled, shit decision makers the three of them.

Yet our more talented looking younger mids cant get a look in.

Nothing will change until the whole club is turned upside down and the old guard, starting with Roo, is removed. The fish rots from the head. Hes the head of football.. the whole conservative, back in the seniors over the youngsters policy, that has hamstrung the club for years now regardless of who’s coaching it, is coming from the top. He’s the constant over the past decade.

Some of us are sick to the back teeth of it and are begging for change.. others just accept the mediocrity and are happy regardless of the clubs current predicament.. might take another 5 years of failure before this second group wake up and join the first.

And 57 of those 89 possessions were handballs (and most of those to someone put under pressure).

Our kick to handball ratio is out of whack and why? Because our prime midfielders can’t deliver by foot and hit a target (all three of them) so they have to handball. Less chance of error.

Laird would be 2nd

The guy openly has no clue

and this is the level of understanding displayed by our coaches. Our 3 primary mids basically all got 30 touches each. How can that be improved upon, its definitely a stacked midfield. Of course impact from possessions has no relevance and nor does the combined power of the midfield. We've got 3 mids that average a B grade rating individually but as a group get an F as the worst in the entire competition. But it can't be improved upon, because you know, disposals, experience, continuity and lots of other really important stuff.

Can’t believe we are getting along so well these days

How is Keays responsible for our current situation?
Keays gives his all.. never stops working.. runs hard all day.. bleeds for the club.. sets a great example to our youth.

But unfortunately thats where it ends.

-His skills are poor.. SANFL standard at best.
-His decision making is poor.. probably because his brain is running at a thousand miles an hour like his energiser bunny body does.
-He more often than not does the selfish thing over the team thing.. which is more dissapointing because when he does the team thing it normally works out. But this may be him just feeling like he needs to take it all upon himself.
-his tackles just never seem to stick
-his kicking is Auskick levels of disgusting.
-he so easily gets drawn into the contest which nearly always results in his direct opponent being free just outside the contest.. free to grab and run away with the ball when it evebtually squirts out of that contest.
-lacks a quality football brain.

The fact that he’s rated as one of our best mids tells you exactly where our list currently is.

He’s not responsible for the current situation.. the head of football, list management, selection commitee and coaching staff are.. for somehow believing our current list, which has the worst midfield in the comp, is somehow “stacked”..

Its embarrassing.

it's that we rarely leave the contest area on foot. So it's either a handball to someone under pressure or a hack kick out of the stoppage. We don't take on our opponents and remove them from the equation, the player pressuring our guy with the ball takes 3 steps and he's now pressuring the guy our bloke gave it to. But it's a terminal issue because we've been like this for years and there's no evidence that we want anything different to happen.

Wrong, the rebuild is going well, Blighty, Roo, Nicks and every player interviewed says so!

The worry with wins like today is that so many inside and outside the club hold it up as proof all is on track. Keays/Laird/Crouch, repeat after me .....

Rubbish. The club will use it for a bit of positivity but there would be a minority of supporters who would use yesterday as proof we are on track

The midfield mix is really frustrating and disappointing and when Parnell gets dropped next game that will be annoying as well. However the general rotation of younger players through the team this year has been an improvement.

Unfortunately our draw is going to hurt us this year. We almost can’t lose to North and WC as they are so poor - gifting us 4 wins. Sadly if we lose any of those quite rightly we will be up in arms about the club but we actually need to lose some of them to get the best pick possible

Laird and Crouch wont be in there in 3-4 years

Laird is contracted to end of 2026 and surely a rebuilding team doesn't play Crouch if they're intending to delist him in a year or 2. And you haven't answered the question, is that a midfield capable of getting us into a contending position? And even if you think it isn't, we're not developing anything underneath, our strategy will be to play them in the midfield until the very last game they're at the club. It's unarguable that Crouch in the midfield is costing current performance and future dividends. So the question is what overriding philosophies drive that decision.

North had a few good passages yesterday and weren't too bad. Them in Tassie is a 50:50 and Eagles away is looking the same.

I can't stand Nicks brand of footy. It's messy, dumb footy and I don't enjoy watching it. It's not all on him though. The list is diabolical. You'd have to run a broom through the committee that selected Nicks as coach, then you'd have to clear out recruiting/list management just to get to a point where we can move forward as a club. We are miles away from even recognising the issues. If we were in the AA 10 step program, we're still at the stage where we are guzzling whiskey at 8am every morning.

Awwww… dear Bernie.. dear, dear Bernie.. i love your optimism Berns..

But if we can give our old number 14, a 17 meaningless posession a game hack, three more years than we shouldve (and we actually wanted him to stay for this year too!) then I’m sure the brainstrust at the club will very easily find room for 3-4 more years of Laird and crouch who are both 30+ meaningless possession getting hack players…

You just know deep down that, unless there is a moumental clean out at the club, its gonna happen..

Rory Laird will, he's contracted to 2026

Keays to 2024 but he'll be using our crapness to extract 2 more years by the end of the year. Crouch probably goes, but we'll be wasting midfield minutes on him until the bitter end. Sloane will be certain to get an extension to 2024, only question is whether he finishes his career as a mid or at half forward.

ROB
Crouch
Laird
Keays
V
Gawn
Oliver
Petracca
Brayshaw

Yikes

We did beat them last year - and Oliver (38) Petracca (32) Gawn (20) and Brayshaw (22)
didnt put the cue in the rack

The gap between good and bad teams is less than people think. You need good balance and players that can stand up in big moments.
We have no balance with Butts out at all. Our most desperate need is a quality second KPD - and a few selection adjustments

Keays would be leading our B&F. How the duck can you pin anything on him for our current situation? What more do you want from him?

Well I can think of perhaps actually delivering the ball.

Now another thing is our three main midfielders have over their careers kicked 29, 28 and 20 goals! So far this season they collectively have kicked the grand total of 5 goals.

They do no damage, the opposition fully know that and given their delivery skills they will allow them to get 25+ disposals each game.

Even the game day thread only has 650 posts, normally way north of 1,000

22,000 at the ground

Fairly low interest everywhere by the looks
I know the weather was terrible yesterday so I won't read that much into it but there has to come a point where supporters say "**** this" and bail en masse. I'm always amazed by how loyal our supporters have been over the journey. The club keeps feeding them shit sandwiches and they always come back for seconds.
