Realised, ironically, that I can go Warner and Hall to Cleary (WBD) and Ned Long, so might do that even though it doesn't leave much in the bank for next week's upgrades, but without any reliable rookies to target, I'd rather get a rookie off field for Long.

Or

2)Banking cash and Getting rid of two mediocre Rooks (Stone and FOS) and getting Ned Long?

Or

3) upgrading Farrell up to Nic Martin and leaving some $$ in the bank for premium upgrade next week?

Probably this. Ash looks certain to be top 6 for 930k. Value. Don't like his matchups the next 2 though.

Only thing I'm weighing up is Trainor or Reid out. Trainor has slightly better matchups and I think a better floor. I just feel a bit safer fielding him. But now it's riskier that he could be sub any minute.

Can also do TDK to Goldy (lol) and Reid up to Ash and hold Davo for 1-2 more.

Need help splitting these two options

Will be looking to upgrade Trainor/Davidson next week regardless, but am battling between Trainor having a more favorable match up this week, but Davidson seeing another price rise next week.

Also sucks that I would have to make the call before seeing teams with Richmond playing at 3am my time, just after teams (international)

With your rank I doubt I could give any real advice on the options, but IMO go with whatever your priority is - is it getting rooks off the field, fixing structure, culling a fattened cow, chasing a bargain premo, fixing shit rooks etc

Ie I'd love to fix shit rooks like Kako and Finn but I need to maximise my on field points instead of my bench.

One thing I will say that I'm avoiding is sideways trading premiums right now (like your Farrell to Martin option), that seems like a luxury to me. If you're in the position to do it then congrats but imo if you maximise value now you can go HAM on upgrading to the top shelf later.

I reckon keep Maric and Davidson. They still have money to make and we don't really have trustworthy rookies replacing them. I do understand the temptation of moving them early though. It's going to be difficult to watch Petracca against Richmond and West Coast.

I think the second option is the best trade (at the moment I think I'm going to do something similar - Warner and Moraes to Long and rookie). Pharrell just scored 100 so I'd give him another game.

This week's Trades .....my original plan was to trade that imposter Stewart ....Rookie down, Stewart up ...but after mediation talks, a better plan was hatched

Trade 2 x rookies down, retain Stewart and add Newcombe .....that's 2 x Premo's instead of one, the assumption being, Stewart will (should) outscore both my outgoing rookies

I'm not a massive fan of Duke Nuke. DC actually discussed this on the Hat Chat Wednesday episode and made a good point - Newcombe isn't the type that necessarily benefits from easy fixtures. He doesn't spread for marks that make those soft games against poor teams easy for other mids to score in. He may not have the upside from the fixture we thought, and absent that - is he a guaranteed top 8 mid worth brining in at $1m?

If I had to project my top 8 going forward is still:

Merrett, Daicos, Dawson, Dunkley, Brayshaw (all clearly top 8) then three of: Bontempelli, Nando, Green, Rozee, Butters, Walsh, Serong to round out the top 8, is Newcombe better than any of those, plus we eventually will have Treloar back as a bye round target maybe. That could be 12-13 or so players better than Newc, without taking into account Neale, Miller, Libba, Caldwell, Hewett who are all also there and there abouts.

I mean you say he doesnt spread for marks, yet he went 6 and 7 for marks against Port Adelaide and Geelong......

Watching him play this year he is looking better than I have ever seen him play

I think I’ve finally got a first concrete trade idea for the first time this week

Get Long in for the better role and a similar BE, the Dr has a tough run ahead, and I’m willing to take a punt on Gray as he’ll be in the Samson Ryan role rather that the Balta role so his JS should be ok hopefully

Will loop Trainor and it leaves me a warchest for next week to upgrade him properly

At R6 I'm not locking in set & forget Mids .....I'm more fixture orientated ...HAW have lost their last two games, they'll be foot to the metal in the next 3 ...WCE, RICH & MELB

Tackling is the secret to Newcombe's game ....from the last 4 matches, 142, 77, 118, 118 ....the 77 was punctuated by a 10% drop in his TOG

I would have preferred to go the value route ....but the chips hasn't fallen that way ....I still don't trust Tracc ...he ha a great game last week, but he only scraped a 100
