I don’t think you can ever truly tag Libba out of the game given what type of midfielder he is. Would expect the tag to go on Dale/Richards but you never know.
like I want to pick him right, but I did last year and was treated to a 70-80 odds

It’s basically him or someone like Dunks, who’s a lot more pricey but has a better track record and a better run ahead, I have Dunks as my in currently but bringing in a Libba means I can hold Lindsay.

Libba pick has trade written all over it once Bont and Treloar are back. His CBA's are up 10% and he's getting more of the outside link up ball through the middle they would be getting.

Admittedly that is still a month away but I wouldn't want one of my premos I bring in now to be problems later.

Exactly. Picking someone like Dunks is a lot safer, while pricier.

I would even pick any of Green, Daicos, Brayshaw and Serong over Libba too. All around same price as Libba.

Good starting pick though.

It’s interesting, I’ve listened to most of the podcasts this week and everyone bangs on about bringing in value rather than people at top dollar.
I can see this for people wanting to bring X/Sheez in who are going to drop in value, and to definitely wait.

However last week, I had the option to go Finn Callaghan (who I considered an under priced premium) at around 840k…but thought about the fact that I know he won’t be who I want come round 24. I used some DPP and got Rankine worth roughly the same who I knew yes, potentially could drop in value but he is still a top 6 forward.

This week I have the option to go basically any back. Whit just doesn’t look like slowing down and I don’t think his price will drop at any point below 1.05mill. I have Sinclair who presents slight value however has a couple of two tricky matchups (port and gws) but realistically how hard are port at the moment?
I think Sinclair can drop even more with these matchups and I feel safer going with Whit with his easy run. Could go zork but scared what that looks like with Coleman coming back…

I just think sometimes even though it’s early, you have to empty that piggy bank

I'm going Maric over Rankine this week. With Mcgovern out and the extra kickins I think he can be within 10-15 points for $400k cheaper. Allows you to use the SDK cash to upgrade a defneder next week.
Every week, I wonder if I should get the premo with the second trade or get the lesser known mid pricer. This week was Rankine or Maric, but Rankine makes my forward line look a lot better than Maric. I always go with the premo. You always finish above me though, so not sure how good my advice will be.
I do like Maric but at the same time i kinda just want to get the top 6-8 in the lines as i made that mistake going Farrell last week over Rankine, but the obvious cash gen is there. (Farrell v Saints this week should be better)

Will have 200k to upgrade SDK next week regardless of either trade.

Yeah, tough for sure. Libba is in real good form at the moment and I just don’t think he’s a player opposition would tag for extended periods.

For a long term pick, I would definitely go Dunkley though. In my opinion, Libba’s scoring will go down eventually and I think he’ll be prone to some of those lower scoring games as the season goes on.

Camporeale -> Bice

Originally I had Lindsay to Moraes but if its just a 1-2 week thing, im thinking of O'Sullivan to Moraes instead?
Are people holding Lindsay?

The other rookies i have are ashcroft, trainor, reid, lalor, kako, and stone.

I was initially iffy on bringing a Finn or a Powell myself last week purely because of what you said + they're prone to a 70 pt game more compared to the big names.

They are correct.
You dont need to be trading in keepers yet.
We have way too many trades, you can fix up those close to but not best players in their line you've got for the keepers with our abundance of trades later in the year around and after the mid season byes.
Trades arent worth much anymore, you've got like 8+ weeks of luxury trades to get the actual top premos

If a player is not what you consider to be value then they shouldn't be in consideration.
Rankine is performing above his price for example, he looks like a 95+ player priced at 86ish, makes him a decent buy.

This is an old school mentality imo.
Doesnt apply since they made it 2 trades per week.
For example id rather buy Holmes who i think is 4-5 points underpriced and keep the 150k than buy Whitfield who I think is fairly priced, and its not even close

My trade options for the week..

Sanders > Moraes for both trades, would you go,

SDK > Rankine (211k spare) Means i keep Campo as a red dot.
or
Campo > Maric (195k spare) Means i keep SDK

Thoughts?
I’m in the same predicament
I’ve gone SDK > Whit rather than Hastie > Maric

Might still change though

Ranks is definitely under value but shouldn’t raise too much in value.

lol. This is probably why I always feel behind the pack and never complete my team until very late in the season. I am more likely to go with the uber premium than the undervalued guy. I did have a 6 year gap from fantasy and only started playing the last 2 years again. All this talk about having complete teams by end of mid-season byes was quite intimidating because I didn't get a complete team until round 23 the first year back and round 22 last year.

Complete team generally just means all rookies off the field and most players being semi-reliable 80+ scorers lol.
Once you get all the rookies off field for decent mid pricers you're good.

Full premo team is like round 18 or later for the top teams(depends on the year)

Yeh, I know. The last 2 years since I came back, I've had to keep a rookie on field til that late in the season. This is because I often will choose the higher priced more reliable player, than save the money with the undervalued player. As a result, I get stuck with 1-2 rookies for those last 6 or so weeks while other teams have complete teams.

Which way are you leaning at the moment? The more I think about it, the more I start to question it. Free Kick Liam mentioned that Maric is predicted to gain the most money over the next 3 weeks, followed by Humphrey, Moraes, Hall, Bice, then Langford. I do think Langford can be higher due to his good matchups coming up though.

Also, in a best 18 round, I wonder if the double downgrade and double upgrade next week is the way to go? Although, I've heard that carrying that extra cash is not worth the points you'd be giving up in going 1 up 1 down.

Don't really have a preference tbh, even if i did the trade would be based on Knevitt and SDK anyway.
This is the type of week you can double down mainly to start upgrade season next week.
