Rolling lockouts can piss right off too!Imagine fantasy being free of byes completely. Would be so good
Rolling lockouts can piss right off too!
As someone with nothing better to do, I like being able to watch football every weekOr just 1 round of no footy half way through the season. Like the world is gonna fall apart with no games for one week
Bit of an X/twitter discussion about that going on this morning
The whole survey argument is ridiculous. The only people doing a fantasy survey is the hard core nuffs that obviously want to keep the rolling. Hell I'm constantly posting fantasy stuff on this board and even I rarely do the survey
Well they’re working towards 1 bye a week and the complete illusion of any footy being lost due to byesAs someone with nothing better to do, I like being able to watch football every week

The stress of locking your team away on a Friday arvo. Good timesRolling lockouts can piss right off too!
Hopefully the sub rule can go first, which 100% alleviates the need for rolling lockout.
The AFL doesn’t give af about the people who follow it. The same people it relies on to live.. talk about backwards priorities5 mins X 9 games per week x 23 rounds... approx 137K players?
= 1035 mins per season per entrant.
or 17.25 hrs is absolute dog shit amount of time for every engaged player.
This is what boils my p*ss. Only fantasy players are watching North v GWS at 11am Sunday in Rd17. In their pursuit of chasing their new viewer KPIs, they've completely forgotten to service their diehard fanbase. Game's ripe for a breakaway league. The AFL doesn’t give af about the people who follow it. The same people it relies on to live.. talk about backwards priorities
What surprises me though is (according to Warnie) approval rate for rolling lockout in the survey is consistently like 60%.Yep rolling lockout is balls. Rewards the no-lifers and actually makes the game easier for them, putting more distance between them and the casual player. A casual player will ensure they have good cover, massage their bench, while someone checking before every game quite literally has a terrible bench by round 8 or so and it won't affect their rankings because points on field and no repercussions from late outs.
They won't change it though. It gets the engagement clicks throughout the weekend.
Checking the subs. What surprises me though is (according to Warnie) approval rate for rolling lockout in the survey is consistently like 60%.
But all I hear about it are complaints. Where are the people voting for rolling lockout?

No idea but the AFL will continue to do what they want regardless of survey results. The surveys are only exist to give supporters the illusion of voice. What surprises me though is (according to Warnie) approval rate for rolling lockout in the survey is consistently like 60%.

This is what i thought was the real reason but in that discussion on X above Warnie reckons it's not, it's purely on survey results
Hes right in that you'd still have people checking scores etc but it probably would result in less clicks
People who are happy with the game arent going out and complaining about it, theyre happy with it as it is so why make noise? What surprises me though is (according to Warnie) approval rate for rolling lockout in the survey is consistently like 60%.

I'm still waiting for WaynesWorld19 to post the 2026 pre-season thread so I can start on next years assault on mediocrity. The more clicks in the early rounds would be more than offset by user disengagement midseason by the social player abandoning their team once their season is torpedoed by missing one too many late changes.
